Let's hope the usual Wofford underdog mentality motivates our team to prove this predition wrong.

We have a chance to be better than that. We are small but tough inside; if a couple of our young guards mature quickly, we may surprise some folks.

I think it shapes up to be an interesting year. If our point guard play is at least solid and if Junior Salters and Corey Godzinski can score fairly consistently, then I think we may surprise people. Noah Dahlman and Tim Johnson are quick in the paint, and I think they'll give teams some real trouble. Teams with athletic big men may be tough on us, but there aren't that many rugged, quick SoCon post players over 6-8, seems to me.

I think we may have a fun team this year.

Even though this will be a year of mostly young players after last years graduations, will this be the year tha Coach Young can be judged on? If not, when will we be able to say we are on the right track or not?

I am NOT making any conclusions or trying to start a fight since I know strong opinions exist on both sides of this issue. I'm just curious as to the thought of the Terrier faithful as to when we can fairly say that COach Young has had his shot. From there, as far as opinions go, I'll let that be for another thread.

In his tenure Young is 74-102, but that's not the record I would focus on since I know Wofford plays alot of the big boys and for good reasons. The main thing to me is his SOCON record which is 38-63. I think this record is unacceptable. Is there any reason for the fans to not expect Wofford to have a .500 record in the SOCON and occasionally compete for a 1st round bye in the conference tourney?

The bad thing is that it doesnt really matter as there is no way Young is going to get fired from the head coaching job at Wofford

I agree that overall record is mostly irrelevant compared to the conference record.

I don't care about losses to the ACC, SEC, Big 10, etc., but I'm troubled that we continually play respectable close with those guys and then start getting thrashed by 25-30 in conference play a few weeks later.

I see no reason that Wofford could not routinely go around .500 in conference play. I don't expect championships, but middle of the road is reasonable, I think. Wofford seems to be recruiting better, but I'm not sure if this better direction will lead us to where we need to be or if a change should be made. But, I think we are approaching time that a call one way or the other should be made.

As for Coach Young's perceived safe status no matter his results, I will say, as I have said before, that if Richard Johnson is allowing a personal friendship to get in the way of his professional career (I'm saying "if"), then his status needs to be evaluated as well.

I doubt that Mike OR Richard are ever going anywhere for a while unless they want to. I bet they'd stay if we lost every single basketball game this year. After all, isn't that the "Wofford Way"?
