Comfortable skilled shooter. Stumpe feel. Would be very good fit for us. Need to get him in for a visit.

My understanding is that Klesmit had a really big game this summer against a team that has a couple major conference recruits. As Terrierfan06 noted, seems like our coaches are really thrilled to get him.

I think Wofford is in the mix for a couple of other solid perimeter players, including Threadgill. Anytime a player is described as a really high level shooter, I like the sound of it! I always wonder just what it means when guys have been offered scholarships by a number of our competitors....which ones of them are good enough to help us be stronger than our competition, which are going to put is more in line with competitors, etc.? Anyway, seems like we are talking with some good players.

It might be worth noting that Wofford several good young perimeter players in the program. I've heard especially good things about Bigelow and Safford, who are both freshmen.

Wofford hosted Jackson Sivills, from Kentucky, this weekend. A wing-guard. Looks like a talented kid.

He visited Furman recently, too.

A couple of other names, according to Twitter:

Jake Milkereat -- Wofford and Furman are both in his top 5. Looks like a really athletic kid, about 6-5. From Texas, if I'm not mistaken.

And Wofford entire staff visited a kid named Sam Godwin yesterday, the first day of active recruiting for the Fall, out in Oklahoma. A 6-8 forward. This, by the way, suggests to me that Wofford has put some additional money into the recruiting budget in recent years. I doubt Wofford would've paid for four coaches to fly out (I assume they took a plane) to visit a recruit not all that long ago....maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, seems like a strong statement for all four coaches to have been there.

swing and a miss on a number of the big guys we targeted, but that seems pretty common with any school (as you can only choose 1 out of a bunch of offers). plus I'd imagine at this level even with a greater online presence, a number of our targets aren't known yet (Max signed late and wasn't listed as a target, Applegate was signed and didn't even see online anywhere we offered)

I read that a recruit named Sam Godwin is visiting Wofford's campus this weekend. He's a post player from Oklahoma, I believe.

Like Godwin. Strong inside, good length, good upside.

not a bad start for Jay and staff it appears. closed last year strong, and added 2 solid players this year. now likely one more big and a wing to add and complete this year's class.

Fantastic news and great effort by our staff. MY is proving his staff can outwork others at their level, and we would hope our new staff would do the same. Great work!!

I just wish they had not been so successful out outworking Wofford while we were engaging in our search. Still salty about that.

As for Wofford's commits, I am excited to see our new staff hit the ground running hard. All too often you see a new staff spin their wheels for a year while they develop new relationships, but that does not seem to be the case here.

missed on Threadgill. seems like we had been in on him forever, and still making a hard push as of late. He ended up staying closer to home and going to UNC-Charlotte. the growth of them, Elon, Mercer, App State... again lately I am sure makes it that many more quality/upcoming programs in on the same guys.

It looks like Wofford is very much in the mix for a couple other wings -- including Jackson Sivills, from Kentucky, and Jake Milkereat (Texas?). Both have visited Furman, so that's an interesting angle. I saw that Sivills has a visit upcoming to Vanderbilt. I would guess if that they offer, that'll be hard to turn down.

As I've mentioned, kind of an interesting year for recruiting. I think Wofford may have some needs. And it would certainly be great for Coach McAuley to have a strong class in his first full recruiting cycle. But there are a number of good and/or intriguing young players in the Wofford program right now. I could imagine that recruits might wonder who they might be playing behind -- and for how long -- at certain positions, especially on the perimeter, where Wofford has 3 FRESHMEN in the 6-3 to 6-6 range who seem to have significant potential.

So we'll see how it shakes out. I think the coaches are pleased about Max Klesmit, who I'm thinking may be able to handle duties at both point guard and shooting guard. Godwin seems like a nice prospect -- a guy with savvy and a decent touch and potential to develop, get stronger, etc. A hard-nosed '5' would be a nice addition, too. Recruits at center, though, might wonder if they'll be playing behind Appelgren for a couple years -- though I think it's so far unclear how far along he is and how likely it'll be that he develops into an upper-level SoCon center (I have heard some positive things...).

In any case, it appears that our coaches are working hard and making inroads. Just got to keep after it -- trying to fill key positions/needs and then trying to connect with a 'special' player or two who, regardless of filling a particular spot, can be real difference-makers. And, again, it seems that there are some intriguing young players in the program now, and that's exciting, too.
