Our recent signees for 2019 are not likely to change the projected starting lineups above. However, Appelgren will probably play a lot as a reserve and has a chance to become a starter as the season progresses or against certain opponents.

3-point line being moved back, shot clock resetting to 20 seconds after an offensive rebound.
I especially like the shot clock change.

I received Wofford Today in the mail this week. I give some real credit here: a nice package about the 2019 team's success, with in-depth pieces about Cam and Fletch, and also a look at the future of the program. Jay McAuley, Nathan Hoover, Tray Hollowell, Donovan Theme-Love, and Storm Murphy all spoke with solid confidence about the 2019-2020 season.

Athletes and coaches tend to talk confidently. You rarely hear a returning player say, "Yeah, we're going to probably kind of suck next year."

Still, I think these guys seem prepared to step up. Storm and Hoover can take on a greater load of the scoring and leadership. Hollowell could have a breakout season. Theme-Love has been hampered by injuries and will be ready to have a great senior season. Obviously there are others we've talked about it here who will be counted on and, evidence suggests, have potential. And I was glad to get the feeling that these guys are rallying around the new head coach -- I certainly hope that's both for real and well-deserved -- and that they seem to feel they have something to prove. Losing two all-time great players. Losing their head coach. Seeing a key teammate transfer. My sense is that all of that has made the returning player feel a kind of motivation to show what they can do and to lead this program successfully into a new era.

Anyway, some good pieces about the players and program. I was glad to see Wofford Today devote the space to it.

Thanks for the heads-up, Dude. JoAnn Mitchell Brasington, as usual, did a stellar job of putting this issue together.

We have many reasons to be excited about our athletic and academic programs, and state of the college.

Any interesting summer updates?

Pick-up game reports? Progress of David Appelgren or other guys? Things going OK for everyone?

Possible late-cycle recruiting activity?

I think I saw that Morgan Safford was coming in for second session of summer school. Anyone gotten a chance to watch him play?

Who would have ever imagined such a week in Terrier basketball is - hhmmmmmm - NOT SO CRAZY given the past 10 years' run? Kudos to all who made this happen. =D> =D>

I guess if they can't beat us in the Dean Dome, they can try another venue. ;)

On the other hand, I was hoping to make the game and tickets may be a little more difficult now.

Our three recruits are in school and getting acclimated. We have a strong and deep roster although I believe we have one scholly left to give for this year should the right one come along late; I suspect we are still alert to that possibility. Need to stay healthy. https://woffordterriers.com/roster.aspx?roster=320

I've been hearing good things about Morgan Safford -- the first signee of the Jay McAuley era. He turned 17 in 2019, so he's on the young side. Could mean that he is really still developing and coming into his own. In any case, I have heard that he's looking pretty sharp. Not sure if that means he looks ready to contribute if needed, or if he'll likely compete for serious playing time.....we have a number of good guard returning, plus Isaiah Bigelow, who I also hear good things about.

Lots of other angles to consider:

Can Hoover emerge as a top-level player in the SoCon...maybe even a first-team all-league guy?
Will Murphy be more aggressive offensively, looking to make more plays and take more shots?
Does Stumpe return at top strength and play as well as he did his sophomore season (which was, at times, terrific)?
How is Goodwin coming along? Getting stronger? Developing his post moves?
Is Messiah Jones going to be ready for major minutes?
Can David Appelgren, at 7-1, make a solid contribution? I've heard that he's been working out and gaining weight....perhaps he's coming along.

I'm looking forward to it.

Really appreciate the local knowledge Dude — most enlightening. The high school stats for Jones and Bigelow, in strong leagues, were excellent; hopefully they can bring a lot to the table.

Safford finished very strong in high school, putting up big numbers.https://www.270hoops.com/news_article/show/991111
I also really like Richardson’s video ... appears a little more physical. Both of these guys show great promise. And by all accounts, Appelgren is a very hard worker which has enabled him to improve at a fast clip.

Sorry I don't have more, lawdog.

If anyone else has some perspective on how the guys are coming along, I'd of course be interested.

Summertime can be an opportunity for players to really mature and improve and for teammates to come together. I'm not sure Wofford has ever had a time with more intriguing young players -- and even not-so-young players (i.e. Stumpe's return) -- but a good bit of an unknown factor. We'll have to see how it all takes shape.

I have always liked Stumpe. I hated it when he got hurt in 2017. I felt like it was going to be his breakout year! I hope he has healed 100% and comes out on fire this season!!

Those last four games are tough, including ETSU on senior day.
