Signed with Royals baseball February, 2018. Grad from Wofford, did post-grad year at Ga. Southern. 32d round pick; has the size, fastball, and other pitches to have a real shot at majors.

In last four games, in 4 2/3 innings has allowed no runs, one hit, and struck out 11. Getting a good feeling about his prospects.

In high A ball, his ERA as short reliever is 3.09, very respectable. Good size, has excellent fast ball and developing assortment of other pitches. He is a baby in pro ball and has learned a lot in this, his first, year. I really like his upside.

Finished last ten games of 2018 season in high A with 1.29 ERA. Moving up on good schedule, generating buzz.

Record at 3-2 with 4.26 ERA. Not bad for first AA season. Only two HRs allowed in 28 innings.

Met Jacob last night. Harrisburg was in NH to face the Fishercats (AA Blue Jays.) Perfect night weather-wise. H'burg beat the locals on M, T and scored 5 in the 9th yesterday to sweep 5-3. His record is 5-4 with an ERA of 4.75; pitched an inning in relief on Sunday; so, was hoping I would see him play, not so...
Bought a seat by their bullpen and we chatted about all things Wofford, S'burg, etc. during pre-game and between innings. Quite an impressive young man; very pleasant/articulate, has future plans with/without baseball, tuned into alumni stuff:
Predicts that a Terrier will be in the majors within the next 2 years; indicated Luke Leftwich is the front-runner (now at AAA.) And keep an eye on Adam Scott.
Said several former hoopsters playing professionally were at JRIS this week practicing, playing, etc.
Looks forward to football season.
He also repeated what many have shared here; our baseball program's Athletic Department support pales vs. football and basketball; that needs to change quickly. Amazed what recent squads have been able to accomplish on the diamond/SoCon...

Thanks for the report, TNHD. Jacob is only in his second year. Reportedly with his size he can bring the heat but just needs more experience and perhaps to master an additional pitch. Glad to hear he is upbeat; so much of dealing with that grind seems to be attitude. He has had some very promising stretches.

Note that Leftwich is back in Reading after recuperating from an arm injury ... has had a couple good recent outings. Maybe you will get to see him.

Glad to share the udpates, LD-
Hope Jacob continues his climb to the show. Bummer about Luke; best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Adam and the Akron Rubber Ducks will face the Fishercats next week. Plan to attend 1 of their games and welcome him to NH. I'll post news, etc.
