While it appears he is merely insurance, it will be fun for him to be back at Wofford if even for a day or so. Since he also can placekick he is a good player to keep around.

He has worked hard on his craft for several years. Like his chances. Panthers looked at him couple years ago too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnCrRqIzrP0

Another Terrier on the Panthers?

Eric Boynton (GoUpstate) tweeted this evening:

Carolina Panthers signed former Wofford punter Kasey Redfern to compete for the starting job with Mike Scifres. Swayze Waters was waived.

Apparently Scifres, a 13-year veteran, has had some recent problems with his non-kicking leg.

Panthers trade Kasey to the Cleveland Browns, in return for Andy Lee, the 34-year-old Browns punter. Future draft picks involved too. Looks like Kasey will be the full-time Browns punter. Happy for him and his future.

I see this as a big win for Kasey. While we would have loved to see him with the Panthers, they never seemed to act as if he were their real punter. At Cleveland he will have to be the man, and WITH Cleveland he will get lots of chances to punt! If he survives he will be a seasoned veteran. For Andy Lee, who is a South Carolinian, what a break! He goes from having to run for his life about 10 times a game to a Super Bowl contender which hopes to put three or four times a game. Personally this appears to be a big win for both guys. Kasey may end up with the Panthers in a few years.

Great to hear about Bersin.

Britt Colquitt, ex Denver punter, came available, and
Kasey lost his job. He has made great progress recently and stands a good chance of landing on a roster before long. That he is a hard worker and loves punting helps his chances.

Does anyone know more about the status pf Kasey Redfern's quest for a spot in the NFL? I hope he continues to stick with it. He is solid and dedicated, and certainly better than some of those I have seen on NFL rosters this year.

Kasey just signed a free agent contract with Detroit. Although Detroit has a good punter, this may still put him in a back up role or at worst give him a better chance to get picked up by another NFL team as the preseason progresses. http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2017/04/25/ ... y-redfern/

Kasey had a 46.2 average in last nights game. Sure hope the brass is taking notice.
