What a great tournament for William-again! Ho Hum, another $233,000 in the bank account, bringing him to around $3,100,000 for the PGA Tour year to date. To finish top ten in a field with only the best players in the world, on a course William hadn't played before, is spectacular. It solidifies his ranking in the top echelon of the tour, and shows that he belongs. This is the first of several limited field events he gets to play as a winner and high ranked player. He has capitalized well on the opportunity so far! Now he will go onto Scotland to prepare for his first Open Championship at Royal Troon GC, a course that should be very playable for William. After that it will be back to possibly play in the Canadian Open, which has been very good to him, before going to play in the PGA Championship at Baltusrol in NJ. He is so well entrenched in the FedEx Cup standings (currently #12) that he will surely go into the playoffs at the end of August in the top 20. Good play before the playoffs start will only help to move him farther up the ladder. His play all year has been good, but in the last month or so he truly has moved into rare air. It's a long way from Fairmont to having his family portrait made with Jack Nicklaus at Muirfield Village. He has done it the Wofford Way; by putting his nose to the stone and grinding. What a thrill for us to be able to watch and follow along.
