Any updates on Brandon Waring? I know he got traded to the Orioles organization. Anybody know which club he got assigned to?

Not sure yet which club he will be assigned to, but did find this interestin post...

a few fans seem to think he has a shot, others think the strikeouts will catch up with him-prove them wrong, Brandon!

Looks like he'll be playing for the Frederick Keys, the Oriole's class A affiliate.

Looks like he will be playing first base. His coach says Brandon "has some kind of juice."

Brandon is hitting .310 and leading the team in hits and doubles. He also has 2 HR's.

Anyone know what kind of talent is ahead of him in the pecking order with the Orioles?

And yes, I'm aware that is a terribly bad pun...

He's with the Frederick Keys in A ball. So far ok start. Hitting .310 with 2 HRs. Carolina League he will be coming to Greenville.

Sorry, he's NOT coming to Greenville. Wrong league. My bad.

He's been on a tear lately with 2+ hits in 4 of the last 6 games. Five doubles during that span. Best part is only 4 strikeouts in those six games.

I would not be surprised to see his home run totals drop this year. At this point, he's proven he has plenty of power, but if he keeps going up there hacking and striking out 150+ times per season, then he's never going to get above AA.

Everyone in the O's organization knows he can crush the ball - he doesn't have to prove that by trying to hit a home run every game. His coaches are probably encouraging him to take a more patient approach at the plate and to just take what pitchers give him.

Brandon has always been a dead fastball hitter, but if you sit back and wait for fastballs at this level, you're not going to see a lot of pitches to hit - hence the 156 strikeouts and .270 batting average last year in A ball.

Again, he's got big-league pop but that's not enough. I'm sure the O's would much rather have him develop into a better overall hitter.

Just got named all conference in the Carolina League. Leads first basemen with 9 HR's; batting .280; SO's are down. Looking great.

Nine-game hitting streak for Brandon (through Monday). Batting average is up to .287 with 16 homers and 24 doubles. He has six doubles in his last three games. Strikeout rate is WAY down from last year.

I'd like to think a post all-star break call-up to AA is in the cards...

He is richly deserving of a chance to go up the chain. I also noticed that his SO's are significantly down.

He's been hot lately . He's batting .276 and leading the team with 18 HR's, and his strikeouts are down. He has also been DH'ing some.
