Sounds like Brandon is dealing with an injury, hopefully not serious. "Waring has been dealing with an oblique injury but the O's are hopeful he'll be fine by Thursday's opener."

Encouraging performance for BW and accolades from the Baysox manager!!!

From "Our Sports Central - Leader in Alternative & Minor league Sports Coverage"
Baysox Win in Walk-Off Fashion
May 30, 2013 - Eastern League (EL) Bowie Baysox

Bowie BaysoxBowie, Md. - With the score tied and the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Brandon Waring singled to secure the walk-off win for the Baysox (25-26) 7-6 over the Reading Fightin Phils (20-31) Thursday night.

"With the bases loaded and one out, I was looking to get the job done early," Waring said. "I was sitting 1-0 and he threw me a fastball a little bit up that I fouled off. I took a step out to get focused and he threw another pitch lower in the zone and I was able to get the head of the bat on it."

After the Baysox bullpen surrendered a run in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game, the offense rallied once again to seal the victory. The Baysox offense was much-improved with runners in scoring position, batting 5-for-11 and leaving eight runners on base while recording 13 hits.

"I really liked the bottom of the ninth inning," said Manager Gary Kendall. "We haven't done that all year. We get a lead off double and get a bunt down then you have Brandon Waring who is starting to come into himself again hit a hard ball into the alley. I'm really happy for the team."

BW is back with Norfork Tides (AAA)!

Called up on June 19 and has since hit safely in 6 of 9 games.

So far: .242 average; 2 HR and 8 RBI. Went 2 for 3 yesterday with 3 runs batted in; so, here's to a torrid campaign with the Tides and promo to the O's in '13.

A good day for BW:

Waring Helps Baysox Sweep SquirrelsJuly 14, 2013 - Eastern League (EL) Bowie Baysox

Bowie BaysoxBowie, Md. - Brandon Waring drove in six Baysox (48-45) runs as the team completed a five game sweep of the Richmond Flying Squirrels (42-52) with a 7-2 win Sunday evening.

"The whole team contributed," Waring said. "It seemed like everyone had a big hit in this series and the pitching kept us in ballgames. It's good to get off to a good start in the second half and get things going."

Waring tied a career-high with six runs batted in on a pair of three run home runs. He is the Baysox career home runs leader with 69 in five seasons.

"First at-bat I was looking for a pitch to drive and he threw a heater away and I didn't miss it," Waring said. "This year I have missed some pitches that I would like back, but tonight I didn't miss. The second time I got ahead in the count 2-0 and I stayed short and put good contact on it."

Baysox starter Jake Pettit pitched six innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out six and walking three in the win. Reliever Andy Loomis pitched a perfect seventh inning, striking out two batters. Reliever Marcel Prado pitched the final two innings, allowing one hit and striking out two.

The Baysox again jumped out to the early lead in the bottom of the first inning against Richmond starter Jack Snodgrass. Shortstop Niuman Romero reached on a missed catch error, left fielder Caleb Joseph walked and Waring then homered to give the Baysox a 3-0 lead.

Mark Minicozzi hit a solo homer off Pettit in the top of the third inning to make the score 3-1 in the top of the third inning. It was Richmond's first run in 19 innings and two games.

Richmond cut the Baysox lead again in the top of the fifth inning. Adam Duvall hit a one-out triple to right field and Minicozzi followed with a sacrifice fly that made the score 3-2.

The Baysox added some insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh inning against Richmond reliever Cody Hall. Right fielder Chris Pettit was hit by a pitch and moved to third base after a single to center field by Trayvon Robinson. Robinson was caught stealing and shortstop Niuman Romero then drew a walk. Waring followed with his second three-run homer of the game to give Bowie a 6-2 lead.

Bowie extended the lead again in the bottom of the eighth inning against Richmond reliever Phil McCormick. First baseman Aaron Baker hit a lead off single to right field and second baseman Garabez Rosa followed with a single to left field. Designated hitter Seth Loman drew a walk to load the bases and Pettit grounded into a double play that scored Baker and made the score 7-2.

Snodgrass took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits while striking out four and walking three.

RHP Mike Wright (7-2, 3.86) takes the mound for the Baysox Monday as the team begins a three game road series with the Altoona Curve. He will be opposed by RHP Ethan Hollingsworth (6-3, 3.12)

The Baysox depart on a seven game road trip Monday, July 15 with stops in Altoona and Richmond before returning home for a three game homestand against Akron Monday, July 22.

Baysox Baseball - We'll Knock Your 'Sox Off. The Baysox 2013 season and 20th season of baseball at Prince George's Stadium is underway. Parking is free at every Baysox

A new chapter in BW's career: (dateline Dec. 4, '13)

Twins signed INF Brandon Waring to a minor league contract.

Waring will also get a look in major league camp next spring. The 27-year-old infielder batted .214 with a .766 OPS this past season in the minor leagues.

Looking forward to a successful transition.
