At 2-7 NC Central, Dec. 15, 10 a.m, tv, radio. Need to avoid the away-game bugaboo.

Maybe the fans want to be able to get back to the dorms in time for the Celebration Bowl - even though NC A&T not NC Central is it? Otherwise it makes no sense.

Lost 66-59...a very disappointing loss. This was NCCU’s second straight win after losing their first seven...they got UNCG before us. Maybe they’ve found the missing link or something. But still, in my humble opinion this is a game we really should have won and there should be no excuses. We simply did not play well enough and that’s it. I don’t want to hear about it being a road game, I don’t want to hear about exams, the weather, or anything else someone might dredge up. Just accept the fact that we let one get away, and that losses like this one and PC shows us that we still have a ways to go as a program, then move on and try to get there.

Gosh, I sure hope this is not an omen for the men’s game tonight.

We were horrendous, awful, shooting the ball - 29%, including only ONE FOR SIXTEEN from 3-point line (Wanink and Carmen combined 1-13). Green and Booker, 3-23. Plus, our defense was lackluster and we got out rebounded. NCC did not look like a one-win team; they hit 46% (including 54 % in second half) and have some talent, but in large part our ineptitude made them look good. If we shoot, defend, and rebound this poorly we will have a hard time. Disappointing. We need to buckle up and put this behind us. https://woffordterriers.com/news/2018/1 ... 66-59.aspx

Dec. 17, 6:30, play at App State. They are 5-4, with close wins over UNCG, Elon, and Davidson. We should be able to compete if we play up to potential. Televised on App network. https://appstatesports.com/watch/?Live=286&type=Live

At App, down 16 after first quarter. Getting totally outhustled and out rebounded (26-7); wholly passive defense, outside and inside; shooting very poorly. We even look out of shape.

It’s been this way for years...just when you think this team/program might be turning a corner and going on an upswing they disappoint you. There has really never been any positive consistency. I really don’t know what the answer is. Jimmy Garrity has already proven he can win...I am confident that he is an excellent coach. The only thing I can come up with is that we need to somehow get better female basketball players to come to Wofford, similar to how we started getting better male players to come here. Garrity hasn’t been here but 2 or 3 years so I still hold out hope that he’ll eventually turn it around. Oh, and if players don’t hustle, stay in shape, play hard and generally hold up their end of the bargain on and off the court, I wouldn’t be afraid to bid them adieu. A Wofford scholarship is expensive and valuable. I know that sounds harsh, but hey...life is harsh.

App improves to 6-0 at home, is 0-4 on road.

I am not giving up on them. True they are not good and I am disappointed in the two losses. But we are not going from a not so good team to a good team within a short period of time. We have a new coach who has not had enough time to mold his team around his strategy. Anyway I am in it for the long haul. GO TERRIERS !!!!

No way I am giving up on them either; we are currently 6-6, about where we were last year when Wanink was injured. However, we need to acknowledge what we are doing inadequately and fix it before the conference games start.

We were out rebounded 57-31. We are not that small inside, but we were standing around and not boxing out and App was fighting for and getting the ball. We are 6-0 in games this year when we have out rebounded the other team; 0-6 when we have been out rebounded. More than anything, rebounding is a barometer, and is about effort, hard work and relentlessness, and we showed none of that tonight. They were making us work hard for our shots but too often we were not making them work for theirs, including countless second chances. Our defense and rebounding were not feeding our offense. And we must learn to play and give better effort on the road if we are to have a successful season. We can do, and have done, a lot better than we have shown these last two games. This team is better than that - not the same old same old.
