Ladies led after first quarter vs. SC today, but were later overwhelmed by that juggernaut; great learning opp. Next four games are at home against opponents we can beat ... should be interesting. Our team continues to play smart and with good effort.

The season is young, true, but it should be said that of the upperclassmen Wanink is the only one who has not underperformed so far. Lambdin and Ryan, both seniors, in particular have little to show. The next four games, at home, will provide a chance for all to step it up and jell as a unit and for the vets to show leadership.

Came on after a sluggish beginning today to beat NC Central 77-56. This is a game we might have lost in the past...

True. Grob and Bayer productive, although Bayer fouled out too fast. Booker getting better; plays with great energy, but needs to improve her assist/TO/steal ratio and avoid careless moments. Need more from seniors. Nice win nonetheless ... stay healthy and keep working, and having fun together.

Ladies lost by 4 to Nebraska Omaha in a strange game. Two big stats: we shot 6 free throws, they shot 25, and Green was 0 for 10 from the floor, which is rare. Bayer had good game, seniors playing better.

Beat Bob Jones by 42; many players contributed well. http://woffordterriers.com/documents/20 ... 128PDF.pdf

Appears that promising insider FR Sophia Hughes is no longer on the roster. Nor is Peyton Walker. Jordan Houseright, promising insider, got married and is not on the roster. FR Olivia Mills has not played yet; perhaps her injured knee has not yet fully recovered from high school.

Tomorrow - UNCA at home, 7 p.m., ESPN3.

What a gutsy win by the ladies, 70-68, in a well-played game. Played smart and did not quit. We were behind most of the game to a talented team that is much better than its record indicates. Wanink, our all-conference player and leading scorer, hurt her knee and left the game with about 5 minutes left and we were down by six. The team came together and played hard, and got a couple stops when we had to, and Emily Ryan hit a big 3. Booker was excellent (her best game for us); so were Atha and McDavid. Green flashes brilliance at times, but is young and inconsistent; heading in the right direction though ... active and athletic. Need more effective rebounding and mobility inside; we got 2 offensive rebounds, they got 12.

The bad news could be that Wanink's knee injury may be serious; we will just have to see. Really hope Chloe is ok; she has the heart of a lioness.

Down 35-25 at half. No three pointers for us, other team hitting them. Inside game and perimeter D lacking.

Wanink out indefinitely with knee; may or may not be back this year.

We are playing hard, but obviously miss our leading scorer, ball handler, shooter, rebounder, defender, and team leader.

Still have a good chance to pull it out.

Down 14 after three quarters. Usually a 40% team from 3 point, but 0% so far tonight. Atypical poor FT shooting. Poor rebounding. Some good effort. Seniors very very quiet. Having to rely on Cairo Booker too much.

Lost 73-55; mediocre in about every way, except just a few turnovers. GW goes to 6-2, we to 4-4.

GW is a decent team, but we were pretty awful tonight, e.g., 2-20 from three point line. http://woffordterriers.com/news/2017/12 ... -webb.aspx We will put this basement level performance behind us, and get busy learning how to jell together without Chloe ... a tall order, but doable. Pulling for the ladies.

Ladies played much better today in hard fought 63-58 OT win over Winthrop. Better outside and inside. Bayer had 27; Lambdin, Booker, Ryan, and Atha made big contributions. They play hard, and smart at times. http://winthropeagles.com/boxscore.aspx ... l&id=19396

I have read somewhere that a rebuilding program often has a tougher second year than first; without Wanink and with only about seven contributing players, we could see some of that this year. Our coach is the reason we won today, in my view; he had them believing. We are getting better. Getting some of the new talent next year, and hopefully Wanink back, should really be a plus.

Probably going to be a tough year. We have heart, but are short on talent. Good times are coming.

Ladies have lost last two games by competitive scores to fall to 5-6. Bayer is really coming around in the middle, but there is no consistent outside shooting to help out. The effort is good.

Let’s face facts- when Chloe went down it pretty much ruined this season. Certain players make themselves indispensable and she falls in that category. It is kind of like the men losing Fletcher Magee. Other programs should realize that their victories over our ladies are at least somewhat a bit tainted.
