A good way to start the tournament for sure. Next we play the Mocs who we should have beaten at their place earlier this year. The Mocs made a miraculous comeback to win the game. So we will still be the underdog but not an impossible task for the short haired dogs. Good luck to the ladies !!!!!

This demonstrates that they have the talent to win big games. Hopefully the Lady Terriers reflect on this and recognize they are capable of competing and achieving success. Winning starts with believing. Very nice victory!

Tough outing for the lady Terriers...hopefully, a building block for next year(s)!

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - No. 3 seed Chattanooga survived a late push by No. 11 seed Wofford to advance to the semifinals, 68-58, at the 2011 Southern Conference Women's Basketball Championship at the McKenzie Arena.

The Lady Mocs will face No. 2 seed Samford Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET. The semifinal matchup will air live on SportSouth.

After falling behind 7-1 to start the game, the Lady Mocs put together a 28-7 run over the next 13:14 to take a 31-18 halftime advantage.

Chattanooga scored the first seven points in the second half and led by as many as 21. The Terriers went on a 17-6 run to cut the lead down to 10 with 1:46 remaining, but a three-point basketball by Bailey Dewart as the shot clock expired and four free throws by Townsend in the final minute preserved the win.

Chattanooga all-conference selection Kayla Christopher led the team with 17 points and four assists. Townsend and Whitney Hood each finished the game with 11 points while Dewart added seven.

Wofford's Mahagony Williams scored 18 points and pulled down a SoCon season-high 19 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass. Maddie Helms put up 15 and April Moorhouse contributed with 10 for the Terriers.

Whoa, 19 rb's for Mahogany, but how do we get almost doubled in the first half.

Even though they lost they still ended on a postive note. hopefully that will carry over into next year. And they should feel relatively good about themselves right now.

I drove up to the tourney from Atlanta yesterday. The ladies got off to a strong start with a 7-1 lead and almost had a 3-pt fall which would have made it 10-1, but then turnovers and questionable shots turned things around quickly. Still, they fought hard the whole game - came from 20 down to cut it to 10, but couldn't get any closer. Good not to be one and done - something to build on for next year.

Samford won the tournament. Samford is an academically solid school much like Wofford...why can we not have some of this kind of success in women's basketball?
