With an 8-6 SoCon record, we earned some cred last season. The bad news is we lost some great players, notably Wanink, Green, and Booker.

That said, and though it is early, we can conclude the cupboard is not bare. A tentative preview of this year’s starters: Hatton, SoCon freshman of the year, will start and certainly have a strong year ... great size, attitude and work ethic, and improving skills. Jamari has become a fine player and athlete and is ready for a breakout; needs to be more assertive and consistent ... watch out. Jackie Carman is a fine player and we must count on her to score, lead, and play D. Tomlin is ready to take the next step ... must cut back on fouls and improve control ... gives great effort. Lutz did well at PG and just needs to get more comfortable and consistent.

Harris and Cook had some good games and should improve and contribute. Turner did some good things and just needs to be more consistent. Atha and Pulanco need to shake injuries and hopefully play nearer their potential. Of the three recruits, at least two should help early. An X factor is whether we can still recruit one more excellent shooter/ball handler with DaJa’s scholly.
