2019 Recruiting

Postby lawdog on Wed Nov 14, 2018 2:38 pm

Just signed Lilly Hatton, first team all-state player from Indiana, and # 1 in her academic class. Strong shooter with inside game. This may be on our only signee in this class, since Bayer appears to be the only one graduating. https://woffordterriers.com/news/2018/1 ... ignee.aspx

Supposedly she is highly touted. Recruited by Miami of Ohio, Evansville, Illinois State, Murray State, Xavier and many others. And her little brother is a freshman on the high school team, all 6'8" of him. https://www.courier-journal.com/story/s ... 480020002/

This is about her decision. Academics played a more important role than basketball. I like her already https://www.courier-journal.com/story/s ... 728222002/

Good film. Excellent touch, footwork, effort, fundamentals. Well coached, team oriented. Plays some D inside too. Should help us a lot.

Once again this proves: if we can get a player, in any sport, to come to our campus, we have an excellent chance of signing that player. Especially when spring or fall is in its glory.

How many times have we heard athletes, and other students, say: I did not know much about Wofford but when I came to visit I was very impressed and fell in love with the place.

It’s also good that we will no longer hear “I just can’t go there...they play in a high school facility” And that did happen some whether anyone wished to admit it or not.

But Lily sounds like a solid signing- someone who can help us on the court who will also fit in at the school.

Lilly sounds like our kind of student athlete. Good for her; and good for Wofford.

Lilly also #2 all time in Indiana in shot blocking. Just what doctor ordered ... inside D.

This tweet says she was 'Player of the year' but does not say for what. it does say for The Courier Journal Awards but I could not verify that when I googled it. was it for her school, state of Indiana, her district, etc ?? I googled it and found absolutely nothing so I do not know what to think. Nonetheless I am excited that she is a Terrier. Not only for her basketball skills but just as important for her academic prowess.
