Nice recognition for our coach, who has really done a lot to turn this program around. http://woffordterriers.com/news/2018/2/ ... -fame.aspx

I am not sure why I did not post this when it came out http://athletics.wofford.edu/news/2018/ ... -four.aspx

And the most recent recruiting news http://athletics.wofford.edu/news/2018/ ... s-two.aspx

So we have six new recruits. All look exceptional and look like they can contribute as freshmen. Two from Ghana, one from Bahamas, one from England, a transfer from UCF and another who was invited to play in Holland even though he is from the US.

Sorry to be the one throwing water on this fire, but I am not in favor of recruiting a lot of foreign players. Generally they are just "hired hands" and will not be supporters of Wofford once they are gone. The various US Soccer factions have worked very hard to generate a good product in the US, and for the most part have been very successful. There are plenty of very good soccer players, both male and female, in the general recruiting area of Wofford. I know that there is a lot of competition for the better players from many other American colleges, but IMO that is where we should be headed. I'm sure there is the occasionaly foreign player who will fit in at Wofford, but I, for one, don't give my money to the Terrier Club expecting that it will go to scholarships for foreign players who may or may not care one whit about Wofford.
Soccer is perhaps the one sport (with basketball rapidly changing) that a coach with foreign connections could recruit a virtually all foreign team and be very competitive. I may be wrong and completely politically incorrect, but that is the way I see it.

Good point boulder. I had not thought of it that way. I will keep that thought in mind

Men currently 1-6-1, terrible; how did the men get so bad so fast?! Not long ago we were one of the league’s best teams.

Big win, to beat UNCG in soccer is always special. Ralph Polson is the dean of soccer in SC, and should be able to compete in SoCon any year. Just need to recruit the horses, and not sure the scholarship support he gets.

Men's Soccer has had more success late in the season. Good wins and near miss. Would love to see them compete well in the conference tournament.

Disappointing season. I thought we’d do better. This program has tasted success but is inconsistent and has been unable to sustain anything.

Ralph Polson really did a fine job overall as our soccer coach, taking things to a new level. Really hope they will use his knowledge and expertise to help get us a go-getter as a new coach ... perhaps a top notch assistant elsewhere in college soccer or even top high school coach who is familiar with the superior talent. There do appear to be some promising players on the roster for the right new coach.
