Sorry to be the one throwing water on this fire, but I am not in favor of recruiting a lot of foreign players. Generally they are just "hired hands" and will not be supporters of Wofford once they are gone. The various US Soccer factions have worked very hard to generate a good product in the US, and for the most part have been very successful. There are plenty of very good soccer players, both male and female, in the general recruiting area of Wofford. I know that there is a lot of competition for the better players from many other American colleges, but IMO that is where we should be headed. I'm sure there is the occasionaly foreign player who will fit in at Wofford, but I, for one, don't give my money to the Terrier Club expecting that it will go to scholarships for foreign players who may or may not care one whit about Wofford.
Soccer is perhaps the one sport (with basketball rapidly changing) that a coach with foreign connections could recruit a virtually all foreign team and be very competitive. I may be wrong and completely politically incorrect, but that is the way I see it.
