A couple of promising transfers added, including Steve Smith's son. http://woffordterriers.com/news/2017/2/ ... ulson.aspx

Chance for a good season.

With a young but very talented group, we should be pretty good this fall. Schedule looks manageable too.

It appears Smith is still coming in as a transfer; Coulson may have been suspended, relating to team rules.

Any word on the exhibition with CoC?

2-2 tie. Looks like we won 2-1 in regulation, and then in the practice OT they outscored us 1-0. We were outshot in the game. Hard fought and chippy apparently.

It looks like it could be a long year for these boys. They are now 0-3 on the season. Their latest effort was a quite noncompetitive 3-0 loss to Winthrop. They also have a 4-0 loss to Radford on the resume. In fact, the team has yet to score a single goal in three regular season games (the other game was a 1-0 defeat against Cal State Fullerton). And in an exhibition, the team lost to D-2 Queens. I guess a lot of goal scoring must have graduated and the recent recruiting has not yet been able to replace it. In any event, the team seems to have fallen a loss no way in a short time and now has a long way to go. Since we do have a good coaching staff, I am confident better days are ahead...just not sure of how far ahead they might be...

While I am no soccer fan generally, I follow the Terriers and have great respect for Coach Polson. So what gives? Lost again to USCS yesterday. This is abysmal. Don't like to see any WoCo team so uncompetitive. Anybody got any idea what is going on?

I don't have a clue Ruck. It was looking like we were building a competitive program for years to come in men's soccer. But this year the bottom seems to have just fallen out. I don't have an explanation but I also wish I knew what happened.

I'm no soccer fan (though Coach Poulson was my gym teacher freshman year) but I imagine bad years like these just happen, no matter the sport.

Wow, 0-7 and outscored 20-2 this year ... no offensive punch at all. Only three seniors, many freshmen, no top upperclassmen performers. Successful soccer, maybe more so than in most other sports, requires physical and mental maturity, and experience. Future has to be brighter. Poorest men's team in years. Not like a Polson team.

0-9 now. It might be the worst D-1 men’s soccer team ever at the school. The future HAS to be brighter on account that it couldn’t possibly be dimmer. But Polson is a good coach. He’s proven that. The program will recover.

Men win second straight, and Coach Polson sounds delighted. http://woffordterriers.com/news/2017/10 ... r-vmi.aspx
