Next year? Recruiting?

Although we lost 10 great seniors, we have some strong starting players returning and some promising RF's and others. Based on this year's performance and the optimism surrounding the program, we should be able to recruit some talented new players. Anyone know anything? When do soccer players sign, anyway?

Coaching staff has said they are set for 2010. Now looking at 2011. Apparently a really good goalkeeper coming. Maybe 3 or 4 more. Signing day is in Feb and we'll know more then. Biggest holes to fill will be the back line with 3 out of 4 being seniors and goalkeeper. If Paulo can get back from 2nd ACL we should be great in midfield and we lose nothing up front. I think in most positions it will be a case of underclassmen stepping in as starters.

ESPN has a link here listing 2010 soccer commitments:

http://sports.espn.go.com/highschool/ri ... id=3860470

Here is the list for Wofford listing name, home town, high school and club team:

WOFFORD
Ryan Hurst D Simpsonville, S.C. J.L. Mann Carolina Elite
Benjamin Limbaugh GK Columbia, S.C. Spring Valley South Carolina United
Will O'Brien D Charlotte, N.C. Charlotte Latin Charlotte Soccer Academy
Benjamin Pueter F Greenville, S.C. J.L. Mann Carolina Elite SA

This reflects loss of 3 seniors on the back line and GK Thomas Hunter. Limbaugh plays ODP but still tough to start at GK as a Freshman.

It is amazing what happens with good coaching, good tactics and hard work. Too bad it took so long to make this happen. I would expect other quality prospects to come our way since we are now off the bottom and sitting on top! Nice to see some MORE (hope this makes you happy old t) SC kids coming our way =D> Those players always seemed to go to our competition in past years.....We lost countless opportunities for players, especially prior to RP. Happy for all the SC players currently and the 4 coming in!

Given that we just won the conference and the tournament with the starting lineup made up of juniors and seniors I would say the quality prospects has not been the problem. It had a lot more to do with the tactics and hard work part. The teams attitude this year was much better and it actually started with the two SOCON wins last year, but that was not a recruiting issue.

Not sure why you would think SC kids have gone to competition as there were 6 kids from SC on the team this year (if you count Grim who clubbed at Discoveries there were 7). This is second in # only to NC which had 7.

Man, have not seen this many (quality) relatively local recruits since......well in nearly two decades. Maybe its the 2 SC coaches, maybe its the success over the past two seasons, or maybe its just a program coming out of a black hole.

"Not sure why you would think SC kids have gone to competition" Uhhhh, I do not know #-o ! Maybe because they did...........Surely nobody with a Wofford education would ever try to argue that.

Glad to see the coaching staff have met your expectations this year. I'm sure it will be reflected in your support of the program.
