Senior Shane Scully signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina Monday, Feb. 13. Scully has the distinction of being the first soccer player to sign a Divison I scholarship from Dawson County High School.

Shane has been a three year captain for Head Coach Andrew Eager's team at DCHS. He has also been in the top three in scoring and assists for the last four years at the varsity level.

Coach Eager remarked about his star player, "Shane has great work rate and attitude. He deserves every award and acknowledgment he receives. I am very proud of Shane."

Scully will be playing for Coach Matt Kern next year as a Terrier. Coach Kern's team posted a 5-11-3 record last year playing in the tough Southern Conference. Coach Kern has been a head coach for 16 years, the last four at Wofford.

What is a tabagator?
Is it related to a Chanticleer or Catamount?

I found the Tabagator web site

http://www.tabagators.org/

Apparently their mascot is an Alligator and they are sponsored by TAB Construction.

I was hoping that my quest for the elusive tabagator would have been somewhat more enlightening.

I was picturing a gator with a sock hat on but then I remembered toboggan starts with "To" and not "Ta" like my redneck pronunciation would lead me to believe. Oh well.
