Blair Gaines and Alex Hutchins, both incoming freshmen, are members of the USYSA Region III ’91 ODP team. They just participated in an international tournament in Costa Rica, where Region III won the tournament.

The US was represented by all four ’91 Region teams. Other teams in the tournament included the reserve teams from the top Pro teams in Costa Rica – Brujas, Heredia, Alajuea, and the Costa Rican U-17 National Team. In the 2 years that the U17 ODP Regional teams have played in Costa Rica, this year’s Region III team is the first to win any games against the Costa Rica U-17 National team or any of the 3 professional reserve teams.

The reserve teams consist of 18-24 year olds who provide the 5 substitute positions for their respective pro teams.

Region III results were as follows:

Region III 1 – Heredia 0
Region III 2 – Brujas 2
Region III 2 – Costa Rica U-17’s 1
Region III 4 – Alajuela 3

Alex Hutchins had one goal and two assists Blair Gaines scored one goal for Region III.

The results are mentioned on the US Youth Soccer website: ... ry_id=4190

Congratulations to these new Terriers! This is an outstanding accomplishment for them and the experience will be of great benefit to Wofford Soccer!

Great job RP in signing these young men!
