Furman does what they do best and failed to put away the other team. Martin's arm may have been going forward on the turnover. One replay made it look like it wasn't but two other replays made it look like it was. Local boy Trey Elder in the drivers seat now for App State.

Congrats to App State.

i think you have to give my furman boys some serious credit though...after your man (bethay?) said app was the best team he had ever seen and made no such comment after playing us who woudl have thougt we even had a chance???? besides we were doomed from the start by the gods of sports - you cannot beat the same good team twice in a year (the 1aa playoffs have proven this...Sports network article said last 8 times there has been a rematch such as this, seven times the opposite team has won like happened yeseterday)...to say we didn't put it away is a little harsh on us...i am not sure we should have been in the game at all

If Williams doesn't get hurt, the game never would have been close. It was 14-0 in the first quarter. App State is a much better team than Furman with Williams.

then why did we beat them with williams and lose when they lost him? facts don't bear out what you are saying....other than one quarter which is less statistically relevant than one whole game...besides, he had nothing to do with the 0 on our side, just the 14 on their side - wait, not even that since elder threw the td pass to make 14-0...so williams got them to 7-0 and then elder made it 14-0 and then we scored the next two times (which williams cannot be on the field to stop)to make it 14-13...it looks like home field is much more important than williams...
------------------------------------------------

-oh well, big question is do you want app to win the title? some do for conference strength...i don't bc i want it to stay that only furman and gsu have won the title...but i could understand many who do - heck would mean we split with the national champions....and were the ONLY 1aa team to beat them (with williams at qb no less :)

Understandable from your viewpoint given the heat of the rivalry, but from a logical standpoint, it makes sense to pull for App State, Furman, GSU, or whoever can manage to represent the SoCon in a national championship.

It increases our visibility and improves recruiting chances for all of us.

My comment on Saturday's game- an excellent contest between two teams with a ton of heart. Somebody had to lose, but both left it all on the field.

Go SoCon!

I'll be pulling for App even though it pains me a little. It would be nice to have the national championship back in the SoCon.
