2019 Spring season and beyond

Postby Retiredterrier on Wed Jan 16, 2019 2:57 pm

2019 roster is up and it has one surprise. and a very pleasant one at that. Billy Hinton is a graduate student. Or is that another way of saying he is a 5th year senior ? He was one that I felt would be missed more than the average although not as much as Stoddard, McAfee, etc but close. So I am glad that he will stay another year. I was also looking for the incoming freshmen DBs that are supposed to be here this semester. Likely the roster will be updated later with their names.

At least four freshmen in camp. We graduated some good players but still have our share of talent, experience, and depth. https://woffordterriers.com/roster.aspx?path=football

Sounds like some guys are stepping up and we are adding a few wrinkles while still improving at the basics. Like the way they appear to be dissecting out some of the past opponent strategies that have caused us problems. Hope our injury issues are getting resolved.

This says as much about Coach Conklin and his outlook on our football program as it does about our basketball program.

I love it. Coach Conklin is such a short haired dog, he doesn't have any hair.

Agreed. I believe that 2018-2019 may go down as the end of the "Aw Shucks" era of Wofford athletics. Now, as was frequently said during my time on North Church Street, "Let The Big Dog Eat".

Spring practice is over. Reading between the lines it seems that Coach JC has implemented his own plan and style of putting everything together. I am sure that he has used a lot of MA's methods which of course is a good idea but at the same time he needed to do his own thing. Which is what appears to be what he has done since he accepted the HC position. He has done IMHO a very admirable job. Cannot wait for the season to begin. https://woffordterriers.com/news/2019/3 ... ctice.aspx

Interesting comments from Coaches Siefkes, Lang, Smith and Romero.

I like all of the coaches but I feel like I like Smith the best.

And I really liked WL's comments on his video where he talked about wanting a player that wants to be the guy but if he does not make it then he has to support the player that is the guy.
