Biggest surprise IMHO is FU getting killed by Elon. although I was thinking before the season started that they would have a QB issue because unless i am sadly mistaken they would not have a QB with any game experience. I watched a little of the Clemson game and did not know any of their QBs in that game so it looked like they did not have a QB with any PT from previous years. Although it is still surprising that they are not competitive with Elon.

Another surprise. Sammy over FSU 13-0 but it is early. they at least have put fear in the FSU fans. and Sammy looks good regardless of the final outcome

I totally called the 'dins missing a step without Blazejowski. He was a good one and I think expecting any of their backups to step in and not miss a beat was a miscalculation.

45 points scored v FU is not a QB problem. The offensive shutout very well may be however. Don’t count them out yet. One game doesn’t make or break a season (which we would do well to remember too).

Good points. In addition, opening with and getting shell shocked/demoralized by a very physical Clemson probably had some carry over for the Furman players to the Elon game. (Digression: One of my favorite afternoons was spent watching EB rumble for over 300 yards against what was supposed to be a pretty good Elon team.)

If you look at how Furman played last year, they leaned heavily on their offense. Their defense was okay, but they benefited from their offense putting points on the board, forcing the other team to play catch up (pass more, make more mistakes).

When they played a decent team(us, Samford), they couldn't score as many points on our defense and our offense was able to move it on their defense. With Blazejowski, they aren't going to be the same offensive team and that's going to put more pressure on the defense which is practically the same personnel.

True YT. When a defense realizes that its offense has no chance to put up points to keep the team in the game, it is deflating for the defense, to say the least, and can cause the D to unravel, get worn down, and lose motivation.

The final was 27-24 ETSU, but it is still a little heartening that VMI was competitive. Their kids played hard all the way to the end against us last week and earned respect from a lot of us.

It was a very sloppy game though. 10 turnovers between the two teams

Western Carolina beat Gardner Webb 28-10 tonight as well.
