Future Scheduling

Wofford to play at UNC in 2021.
http://www.fbschedules.com/2018/08/north-carolina-wofford-2021-james-madison-2025/

Here's what I know of as of right now.

2019 Clemson
2020
2021 North Carolina
2022 South Carolina
2023 Clemson
2024
2025
2026
2027 Clemson

I'm not too worried about finding money games for 2024 and beyond, but 2020 is just around the corner and with the potential to lose the Panthers income it will be vitally important to find a good payday somewhere. I just hope we can avoid getting to a place where we play two of those games per year like some FCS teams are doing just to keep the lights on.

fbschedules.com is now tracking FCS schedules as well. Up until now they only logged future FBS schedules.

https://fbschedules.com/ncaa/wofford/

In addition to the game against UNC we have also booked a home and home against Kennesaw State for 2021 and 2022. We've wanted a top shelf OOC FCS for awhile now and it looks like we will have one. As of today Wofford would be the underdog in these games, although a lot can happen between now and when these two games roll around. What KSU has done with their program in a short amount of time is nothing short of amazing.

All it takes is money, good leadership, and strong recruiting.
They are a huge school (35,000 plus enrollment) and lots of cash. They hired a great coach (former Paul Johnson coordinator at GaTech). They have a very strong recruiting base/territory in Ga/Ala/Tenn and don’t face the same admission challenges academically like we do. I expect we may see them go FBS in the future.

Intrigued by a chance to go to Chapel Hill; wish it was this year ... they looked awful against Cal.

No problem, LD, UNC runs on a cycle, and we should be just fine... I did see that UNCG was all excited that their enrollment went above 20,000 this Fall. We're playing High Point in basketball, with Tubby Smith as their new coach. I still wonder where they will end up in a conference. They have declared an intent to play football in the future. The MO discussed around here is that HP, like Elon, recruits a lot in the Northeast, so one wonders if they want to be in the Big South or Southern Conferences.

If we are going to play Kennesaw, perhaps we may as well play Vandy, UVa, Duke, Maryland, or some other big schools where at least we will get some credit and recognition.

I believe our 2 of our 3 non conference games next year are Clemson & SC State... Any idea who the 3rd one is?

Citation on the SC State one? We haven't played them in 15 years and that's a tragedy. They've had some good teams in that span too. I don't care if they MEAC is is relatively weak we should play them more often

I doubt Brian Bohannon will be coaching KSU when we play them.

I heard that second hand... No citation of SC State... I did see where JMU is at UTC next year.

You overestimate how high of a demand a TO coach is in the G5/P5.

Only way he goes is if Georgia Southern's coach leaves and I doubt that happens for the same reason

Being a triple option coach didn’t stop Mike Houston from changing stripes and moving up the chain.

KSU’s defense is better than their offense. When Bohannon moves up, he may well SBO don the true triple option, but will still do well.

The difference was that Houston wasn't a Paul Johnson protege

I doubt Bohannon will be at KSU when those games roll around, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he was. It could depend on Georgia Southern, but as far as schools interested in Triple Option coaches it could be Navy as well. They've clearly lost ground to Monken and Army so they might be in the market if they stay down a few more seasons.

I also wouldn't be surprised if our UNC game gets bought out since Mack Brown is the new/old coach there. I'm fine with taking that money and running so long as we get a replacement money game. The economics of all this is very important since our future with the Panthers is murky in the long term.
