"The Wofford Terriers will visit Clemson’s “Death Valley” on Nov. 20, 2027 and will receive a $500,000 guarantee for the game, per the copy of the contract.

Clemson was previously scheduled to open the 2019 season against Wofford on Aug. 31, but that game has been moved to Nov. 2 that season, per a copy of an amendment to the game contract.

Clemson and Wofford are also set to meet at Memorial Stadium on Sept. 2, 2023."

I would rather see us play two of those against someone else, in a different part of the country where it might be a fun road trip and publicize our school, in a game we would have a decent chance to win. Harvard? Rice? Cal? Interesting that we are not opening against Clemson, which is good in terms of avoiding early season ending injuries.

The game at Wisconsin a few years back was fun too ... we stood tall for a half and the fans were cool. How about Boston U ... terriers v. Terriers? OOPS, make that basketball ... BU gave up football in 1997.

We will have more FBS openings in the future since the Columbia Chickens will not be extending that series. Muschamp apparently still has nightmares about the option.

I Thought there was a S.C. state legislative action that mandated USC play in-state schools on a regular basis so as to keep revenue in-state?

Part of the argument for playing Clemson/USC is the payment with relatively light travel costs for both the team and fans. While playing a game down in LSU's Death Valley or USC's Coliseum would be awesome, the travel costs for all involved would likely be substantially more, putting a dampener on those prospects. I can't imagine a school like Harvard, Rice or Richmond forking over $500k to buy a home game and our athletics program needs those money games from Power 5 teams to balance the athletic budget and offset costs from non-revenue sports.

The legislature threatened, but did not pass any actual law. This was discussed during the SEC Network telecast of this year's game at USC. The Chicks will play us one more time in a game already scheduled, but will not play us in the future. They are not actually upgrading their schedule as they will be playing AT App State in a few years (a 2 for 1 deal).

They could very well lose that one at The Rock.
