Wyoming Game 9-15-2018

Postby Wofford Dude from Montana on Sat Mar 03, 2018 1:58 pm

Greetings and Salutations -
Happy New Year and all that Jazz.

So been busy, come to check on y'all, and what gives ?!?
Coach Ayers retires after 30 years, and Lenny Mathis moved on to Wake Forest.

So curious on who is making the trip to the gem city of WILD AND WONDERFUL Laramie, Wyoming.
Be good to touch base with some Wofford folks, and 8 years of balancing out these kooky Mormons here, with my heathen ways.

Tough draw against NDSU Bison last year, who have established themselves as a FCS dynasty along the same caliber as GA Southern and App State.

So if anyone sees pinhead twit Booby Lamb this year, tell him the teams west of the Mississippi can hang with anybody on the east/south coast.
He chapped my butt at the Touchdown Club years ago stating the best football is where he lives and coaches.
H#ll there is triple the population, easier travel, more money, etc. on the east/south coast, than the wide open spaces out here in the west/mountains region.

Coach Bobby Hauck, local boy born and raised in Missoula, returns after his exile at UNLV where he chased the big dollars.
Everyone hopes he returns us to our GLORY DAYS.

Weber State and Southern Utah have disrupted the usual top dogs in the conference, making the playoffs last year.

So good luck this year, and hope to see you in Laramie, Wyoming and if not there, then Frisco, Texas.

LG and I are hoping to make the trip. Looking at flying into Denver and driving up to Laramie for a long weekend and a Terrier win. Looking forward to it.
Bobby Lamb sends his regards with love and kisses.
Weber St was no joke last year (had JMU beat in Harrisonburg) and NDSU has surpassed IMO all other FCS dynasty teams of the past - GSU, App, and the Griz.

That could be a great time to go to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. It could be cold with snow, but it is right at the beginning of the winter season. In lower elevations it should be beautiful.

We will be there at the game. Already have hotel reservations in Laramie. Planning to visit the Tetons, Yellowstone, Coty, Mt Rushmore, blackhills and Badlands.

If you are planning to visit Little Big Horn, read Last Stand by Philbrick before you go.

There is a good chance the Mrs. Dungeonjoe and I go to the game too. Still looking at options.

Looks and sounds like you guys have the right idea, both Yellowstone and Grand Teton will be prime viewing , without the summer crowds.
Flaming Gorge in Utah is worthwhile also, Tiger Woods has been spotted fly fishing there, but not as majestic as the other two.
Plan on arriving Friday afternoon, so can scout out friendly watering hole to meet.
Look forward to it.
Later Jer

I wish I could get out the game, but I September is my busiest month at work so it's not in the cards. That being said, there's plenty of great sites to see. I've been fortunate enough to visit the Badlands, the Black Hills, Mount Rushmore and others, but some of the others stuff you all have mentioned is still on my bucket list. However, one thing I will add and strongly recommend is Devils Tower in northeast Wyoming. Pictures do not do it justice and it is absolutely worth the short side trip off the Interstate.

In the Mt Rushmore area is Custer State Park and it is worth the visit. The town of Deadwood, made famous recently by the TV series, is a neat place near the still active gold mines. Mt Rushmore at night is spectacular. All over Wyoming there are neat places of beauty and history. A week of wandering before the game would be quite a treat. Oh, and another thought-Frontier Airlines flies very inexpensively to Denver, where a car rental would be a neat trip.

I'm thinking of making the trip with my 7 year old son. I see that Yellowstone is an 8 hour drive from Laramie. Is there anything of note closer to Laramie?

# 1 Fan,

The Snowy Range Mountains are a short drive and are marvelous. Also Vewudoo is a good area to hike and explore.

Incidentally, I am pretty familiar with the area, I spend about a month a year in Laramie. I will be there for the game and a few days before and after and will be glad to host/help out any Wofford folks

Dr Nut, we will have a few folks out there and would love to get some recommendations for restaurants and watering holes. Any noteworthy sights or scenes would be great too. Plan to ship the sticks and play the UWy. Golf course too. Boulder, we will have room for you if interested.
