Game notes http://athletics.wofford.edu/documents/ ... tes_17.pdf

Notes say that Horton will be out with mono for the rest of the season. Ugh !!!

Question : With Horton out wouldn't it be better to have Miles Brown at NT rather than DE ? Priester at DE ? Thoughts ?

Gonna be hard for the big fella to return. Lack of energy......we will certainly miss him As he is the real disrupter in the interior. He may be able to return in the playoffs......most likely in spots and spurts. Which I’d be happy with just seeing him out there.

Can't take any chances with a contact sport like football with Horton. Mono has an increased risk for a ruptured spleen which would be not good. I suspect we would need to make a deep run in the playoffs for him to be back - like all the way to Frisco =D>

I think it's worth mentioning that, given how strong the playoff field is this year (CAA and MVFC are competing for 5 spots each) AND how close our games have been (margin of victory is important to the selection process) this game is no less important than it was in 2002. If we win, we're 100% in the playoffs, but if we lose, I'd say we're closer to 60%. Samford losing to Chattanooga and us playing close games this year really hurts us.

I reluctantly agree, YT. Our record of 8-1 is very suspect to the committee. Our two wins in OOC games are proving to be much less impressive, and our close wins against ALL competition are unimpressive. They are looking for a way to scratch us, and we keep giving it to them. We have flashes each game on both offense and defense that are brilliant; but we have periods in each game in which our team is very ordinary. If you ask the question "would we beat the teams we have played closely if we played them again?" I don't think any of us would honestly have an answer. This isn't a reflection on our players at all, but it appears to me that we are not getting everything out of our team that we should.

Haley just gave us a 7 seed on his projections... Play winner of Delaware and Monmouth, then a likely showdown with Jacksonville State in Quarters, followed by Semis in Fargo.

I’ll take another trip to Anniston. Great BBQ and golf at Silver Lakes (RTJ Trail).
Need that seed to make a deep run.

To make a serious run, I'd say on any given year we need (in this order)
First game: a home game
second game: a home game, if not a home game an away game that's driving distance
third game (presumably semis): anywhere so long as it's not freezing and if it is there's a dome

the championship game being 2-3 weeks after the semis somewhat neutralizes the travel fatigue that I think a lot of FCS schools suffer from.

In this way, I'm in favor of a game against Jacksonville or even James Madison in the quarterfinals and a trip to Fargo or off in the distance in the Semis, I just wouldn't want to reverse that order.

That 7 seed looked like a dream trip for us IMO. As good of a draw as we could have. Hosting the Delaware / Monmouth winner and then going through Jacksonville State to get to the semi’s......and if JSU got knocked off we would
Host the next round to get to the semi’s.....YES!!!!

I actually disagree completely with folks thinking the committee will be over analyzing a 9 win (1 FCS LOSS) Wofford. As a SoCon winner of a conference who will be getting 3 and potentially 4 teams in the field depending on how it all shakes out. Actually the way the season wraps up couldn’t play out any better with several high profile top 10 matchups and potential danger matchups. I think Wofford will be on the 5-6 Seed like when it’s all said and done. And will be in a position to maybe get a Central Arkansas or someone to play in the quarter finals barring we win our first round matchup.

I like how it all sets up for us. Just want to focus on this big one this weekend and lock in that SoCon Championship and Autobid......
