The difference between a blowout and a close game like this is execution on key plays on second and third down. I don't think the offensive play-calling put us in the right position today.

Of course they threw the ball on us...they could run worth anything. The amount of yardage we gave up isn't bad, but I think the more precise problem for our defense is getting off the field on third down.

Let’s settle down. We are a good team. We will be more than ok. We will be strong come playoff time. I’m not worried one bit. Players need to clean up mistakes as do coaches. Still wondering why Joe didn’t play but I’m gonna leave it alone.

We will win the conference outright. The other three will all lose at least one more.

I understand the criticisms of some things.....But this team is 7-1....in 1st place....and folks are saying "Hard to be enthusiastic about this group".....OH YEAH?? When was the last 7-1 Wofford team at this point in time of the season??

This team is frustrating at times for sure, some self inflicted wounds, some questionable play calls om both sides at times, BUT WE ARE 7-1......my goodness....step away from the ledges people....Its great that we have such expectations.....and while we have yet to see our team anywhere close to our BEST, WE ARE STILL 7-1 and in 1st place....and if that does not excite you then I don't know what to tell you.....I am looking for that SOCON Championship RING that comes to CHampions.........We haven't seen that around here in at least 4 years...Don't tell me that isn't cause to be excited.....We are 13--2 in the last 15 games.....This team while frustrating, is still getting the job done....

Overall the pressure on their QB was maybe our best this year. Their QB really put it on the money, with us chasing him around.

Their D line was pretty sound ... bent but did not break.

I would have been content with a 2 touchdown win. ETSU is an improved team that plays better at home than away. I'm not in the crowd of lacking enthusiasm, but I am in the crowd of curbing expectations. I don't feel like we've played at the level we're capable of playing yet, but it's week 9 and the stat person in me says that's bias talking, not the facts.

We could definitely go on a run of sorts and in some ways I'm glad we've lost a game this season that way we didn't get a big head in the playoffs, but it feels like we have a long way to go.

Chatt will be better on both sides of the ball next week. It's going to be a tough one.

BTW Chatt is up 14-7 on Samford with 1 minute to go in the 1st half.....

Was on the road today and had the radio streaming in the car. Love the technology! 7-1! Go Terriers!

It was an ugly win that could have been a blow out but at the end of the day I'll take an ugly win over a pretty loss. Execution is something that needs improvement but it always does. The coaches will watch the film, coach up the players, and move on to the next one. This team is very talented and knows how to pull out a win. We'll be alright and will be in the running for a high playoff seeding and bye.

I switched over to the FU-WCU game after ours ended, and it is somewhat painful to see Furman execute our offense in a way that we can no longer do.

We continue to struggle with the triple option. Yes, Newman runs it a little better than Goodson, but we have struggled at times when Joe was playing, also. Wade Lang used to be able to make adjustments when the option wasn't working, but has apparently forgotten how to do that. The quick toss to the running back on the 3d and 14 was well executed, but inexplicably, we made no further attempts to get outside for the rest of the game.

In the other hand, this is classic Mike Ayers/Wofford football. For years, we have had difficulty putting games away and letting weaker teams take us down to the wire, nevertheless, we usually win.

I was surprised that Joe Newman only touched the ball once, but there seems to be pattern that a backup who plays well one week, rides the bench the next. I suspect the coaches trusted Goodson to hold on the to the ball better, and to their credit, this game was decided by a turnover.

Un....freaking....real!
Wade Lang must have blinders on.
How can we not have Newman on the field at minimum half the snaps?
Stupidity!
And....we blitz and create a turnover.
Where was that the entire game?
FRUSTRATING!

Don't forget Goodson threw some very nice passes in the first half and made no major mistakes in the game.

Watching Chatty throw it around on Samford. What good does it do to make a team one dimensional if you can't stop the one dimension? Any offensive coordinator would be licking his chops to play against our secondary scheme. Are we the worst 7-1 team in the country? Then they have to prove it in the next two games...
