Wofford (5-3) at Western Carolina (4-3), 2:00

Because of games like this one, the playoff field will be significantly reduced at this time next week. For all intents and purposes, this is an elimination game for both the Terriers and the Catamounts. The loser of this contest will have four losses overall and three in the Southern Conference. The winner isn’t exactly in great shape, and the Catamounts already need a lot of help for any chance at earning the Southern Conference automatic bid. But Western Carolina is surviving, with two wins in a row behind a suddenly high-scoring offense. The Catamounts scored 69 points in the last two weeks, and posted wins against Chattanooga and Elon. But they didn’t have big yardage numbers in either contest, and only throw for 152 yards per game. Wofford’s passing offense is even weaker, but that’s due to the Terriers’ option running attack. The Catamounts defense gives up 172 rushing yards per contest, so Wofford could have a nice day on the ground. The Terriers match up well with the Catamounts, and will stay in the playoff hunt before next week’s trip to Furman. Prediction: Wofford 24, Western Carolina 13
