I think getting Mikel back in the middle will be huge on multiple fronts. He is a wrecking ball in the interior and causes havoc with his ability to get pressure and push the interior Offensive Line backwards. His return will help reinstall our vaunted D Line. We have greatly missed him the first 2 games. We will cause more pressure and be much better against the run due to his return. Priester is a great young prospect and will be a stud going forward, but Mikel is experienced and is a different animal all together. I think you will see that a lot of our "chunks in armor" in our passing defense will begin to drastically reduce as we will have more pressure, causing tighter throwing lanes, creating more opportunities for break ups and INT's. Also, the defensive line rotation gets back to normal, so we are rotating guys in and out more fluidly, keeping us rested and ready to attack.

D1 QB's, with ample time to sit in a pocket, can throw the ball effectively against any defense. Especially when you have really good athletes at the receiver position. That all changes when your run game is struggling and the D Line is pressuring the QB. We will be back at that this week.

You will see that going forward. IMO.

Anyone know the injury status of our team?

Game notes say there were no 'significant injuries' in the Mercer game so I am assuming we are healthy although I am basing that solely on the game notes.

The only one I know of who likely won't play is Roo. I think he is shooting for WCU game to return.
I don't know where Billy Hinton is either.

So far in the first half, our O has only managed to have 1 sustained drive thanks to several third-and long conversions. Otherwise, our O has taken the half off. Not sure what is up with our OL....or why we can't get to the perimeter with our HB's. Pitiful! Thank goodness we have a stout D to keep us in the game.

That is better. Now D needs to force a 3 and out.

I guess that if we thought our O Line was going to dominate we need to alter that thinking. Goodson is doing a great job of throwing, and we have some fine receivers. It would be reasonable that if we can show the ability to throw and catch the interior will open up. I just believe we all thought we could blow teams off the line.

Wow, poor spacing in the bad pitch. Will be blamed on Newman, but the RB should have be MUCH wider. We had big momentum and then-ugh.

WOW! Great recovery by Joe Newman and the Terreirs after that poor pitch to take back the lead and momentum before halftime! Newman’s speed is reminiscent to me of Shawn Graves...but Joe is a better passer! I was angry about the decision to put Joe in after the fumble and wanted him to be pulled afterward, but the coaches stuck with him and were rewarded...good thing they’re the coaches and I’m not!

We aren't playing too bad. To put things in perspective Goodson has more pass yards than they have total yards. The officiating is just terrible. We have benefited from it more but in some ways it's kept it close. We need a stop out the gate in the second half

YT, these officials remind me of the Big South crew that called our game at GW about 3 years ago and threw interference flags on every play for awhile! We have dominated, but I would think our coaches would be a little concerned about the O-Line. On the other hand, when Newman is running the option it is a totally different offense.

I was really of the opinion that our kicking game would be mediocre this year. So far I have been very pleasantly surprised. Solid.

If we continue to fail to get any pressure on opposing QBs like we did on that last GW drive, opposing QBs will simply pick us apart and move the ball down the field on us all season, just like GW did on that drive. Of couse I say that every season because passing defense is seemingly always a Terrier weakness.

Nice answer on O. I don’t think we’re in any real danger of losing this game, but we can still see some areas that need improvement before going into the meat of SoCon play. I have confidence we’ll continue to improve.

I can't figure out what are problem is. We look slow and sloppy. Our D just hasn't reached the level that I though we would be at. Our O just hasn't had that spark. Wouldn't be opposed to seeing Newman some.
