Western up 7-3 on GW early in the second.

Chattanooga down 7-0 to UTM in the second.

I can't make much of Chatt, their offense looks bad (and it's not just because of their primary QB is out). They're probably a 6-5 team this year (still could beat us though)

So, we scored more points against Mercer than Auburn did?

True.
But we gave up more than twice as many as Auburn did so then there's that.

So far it appears you could just put them all in a bag and shake 'em up and pull each one out to find an order. That we have two wins in hand is a big deal. It is doubtful that Chatty will be fifth when the smoke clears, and just as doubtful that Furman will be 8th. For each team their season is in their own hands. We have a couple of weeks to work out the kinks before we hit the meat of the schedule.

I tuned into the end of the WCU/Samford game when I saw that they were delayed by weather. The last seven minutes were great drama, as both teams went back and forth and took turns leading. With WCU up 38-34 Samford took over with their backs to their own goal line and about a minute and a half on the clock. They methodically threw medium passes downt the field and had a first and goal at the WCU 2 with about 20 seconds left-and had four tries and failed. From what we have seen from our defense so far, both of those teams will eat our lunch. It's time to tighten up or get hammered.

Mercer lost to ETSU in OT
Western beat Samford
Chatt smacked VMI
Furman destroyed Colgate.

In other news, Elon beat ranked Richmond, so that makes Furman look that much better

That Richmond upset is huge for Elon. Wasn't Richmond ranked #2? Here in Winston-Salem the big game was Wake Forest at App. It didn't matter much, but the teams were pretty evenly matched, and they sold out the stadium at Boone for a change. In the SunBelt there are very few natural rivals, and the fans haven't had much reason to go to games. Meanwhile, what is going on with Georgia Southern?

Richmond was ranked but they weren't ranked that high. Some argued they were the second best team in the CAA but who knows

Georgia Southern hired a defensive coordinator who doesn't like the option much and their offense is sucking pretty bad

It's interesting that as we are past the mid point of the season some of what we thought at the beginning has changed. We opened with two one point wins over teams that some thought were not so strong. Now, Mercer and Furman are both potential playoff teams that no one wants to play. Chatty is in shambles and Samford is a beast. Western is for real and there are few patsies in the league.
Having watched ETSU on TV a couple of times it is very apparent that they are much improved and can't be overlooked. Chatty and VMI may be the only teams that truly deserve to be at the bottom of the standings.
Both Wofford and Sammy have ETSU and Chatty left on the schedule, but Samford has to play both Mercer and Furman.
