Saw Haley tweet that earlier. There takes to a little luck and some breaks to win a championship. We're due those intangibles. Pre Season camp quickly approaches. I am starting to get excited.

It isnt hype when it is earned...nothing about Wofford is hype. It is always earned. The Head Coach demands that and the program is run that way. No frills, all work. So when the accolades come in, it has been worked for, and earned. And as skeptical as the media and / or fans have been about Wofford for the last several years, I will not downplay what should be another amazing season that comes with EXPECTATIONS to contend for a SoCon crown, and a deep push in the playoffs....

Agreed.
We play YSU in the Burg last year and we might very well have played for an NC.
I am not shying away from saying we are one of the top teams in the SoCon and should make a run in the playoffs heading into this year.

This is probably the first time ever we've been picked to win the SoCon. Having been one of the most recent graduates of Woco on this forum, I know that media interacts with players differently on this level (especially at Wofford) than other colleges. My nerves on this issue derive from the fact that everything rests on a razor's edge when it comes to winning national championships (who knows how far the Citadel would have gone had they not lost to us?) and in some ways the burden of expectations can hinder a team's ability to play it's best or to bring home the bacon (for instance, every team with the best record in pro sports history hasn't won a championship: 2007 Patriots, 2015 Warriors, etc).

To me, the advantage of early rankings save a team from having to climb the rankings. I don't see any SoCon team running the table this coming season so I'd rather be at the top so that if (probably when) a loss comes, the Terriers don't fall too far down to get back up for seeding purposes. A national seed, bye week and home field are huge advantages (not bulletproof), but a big help.

In my opinion, if Wofford wants to make a run into the last four (once you are to the semis anything can happen) then they are going to have to have some games at home. I'm not saying you can't go deep playing on the road, but even though the playoffs are a game by game deal, you still have to look at them as a four to five game stretch and there will definitely be a dynamic that develops from excessive travel.

Well said Eyes! If (when) WOF wins the SoCon title this year,(and that has got to be the mindset from the get-go) seeding is the biggie. I agree; WOF gets YSU at home last year, I'm confident they could have been king of the hill. But as I've stated before, every SoCon rival is out for payback. They gotta win early, really get after the games they should win, and rise as high as possible nationally. I also believe that a winning attitude permeates this team more now than a few years ago. Can't wait!!!
