I have noticed in photos of practices that F RB Kent Phelps is not dressed and in a sling. Not sure what is going on but that usually means a shoulder issue which could mean a certain RS for him.
Good point, T19. Any word on a kicking game with Carter and Henis?

I am not worried about the young guys at this point. We are stacked in the 2 deep with seasoned veteran talent, we won't be asking too many young guys to jump into the fire right off the bat. Which is a great thing. Redshirt as many as possible continue building that depth. There will be spots where injuries and fatigue will play in where some young guys can plug in, especially special teams.

But can we find an efficient kick game to replace what was a SPECIAL kick game last season that was so instrumental in so many games.

I will say this about special teams. Gasparato is definitely a catch as the coordinator. We blocked how many kicks last season? 3? Much more than any in years prior

Pretty quiet with info out of camp this week. I assume that is because we are installing more of the playbook. Anyone seen any practice or planning to go to the scrimmage tomorrow?

What I am excited about and this probably deserves its own post, maybe with the help of my good buddy Ruck, is the Defense has the opportunity to be the absolute best in the country. I think the Terrier Faithful is going to be going crazy over CocO Clemmons in the middle. Kid is an absolute physical specimen in the interior, and will be a THUMPER. Add in the Wilson's at LB, and Morris. Mix in what should be the BAR NONE best Defensive line in the country. And do not forget a nasty Secondary with All Conference members on both corners and experience in the back 2.

Guys this defense could be something very special. Add in 2 deep depth across the board, and 3 deep at some spots.

I think this defense could be the best we have seen at Wofford.

I agree. I only have 2 concerns/questions:
1) experience and depth in 2 deep at safety. We will really miss Jaleel Green who in my opinion was one of the best to play that spot for us. Rivera is heady and will stick his nose in there but is not the pure athlete that Jaleel was. Tillery is a great athlete and playmaker but needs to read things a tad better. I love Allstat at FS but behind him is Massey who is very unproven and undersized IMO.
2) Depth at OLB took a hit with the abrupt departure of Lyles. Jireh Wilson and Morris are great with Vining behind them but that only leaves Navy t'sfer Robbie Armstrong and true F Shaun Moore who are unproven.

Some would say those are a bit nit picky but just my 2 cents (I could add that our D.C. Is in his first year which could also be a disadvantage). Our overall talent level on D is as good as it ever has been (maybe best of all time) but the need to stay healthy is ever present. Which is my only concern about Clemons who is a stud; he has been a bit injury prone over his career. I like Hinton behind him (tall/rangy and runs like a deer) and I think Rountree will be productive as well. Brown and the 2 F (Beckett and Titus) hold promise but probably will need another year or 2. The best thing those ILBs have going for them (which is a lot) is those guys up front on the DL (Vaughn/Brown/Horton) are nasty which will create some opportunities for them to make plays.

Now imagine if you could add in Michael Roach and John Patterson and really imagine how good this defense was constructed. And yes. The coordinator position is the big question mark with me as well

Good article on Wood, RT. I really like Wood's dedication to and history with Wofford, depth of playing and coaching experience, enthusiasm, work ethic, intelligence, and character. I think he will do a great job.

Our D will be a force to be reckoned with, barring excessive injury and complacency. The intangibles are with this team too, and that is big: they really appear to like and pull for each other. That can make the difference between a win or loss in a tight game. They also seem to like their conditioning program. Man up!!

Roach's and Patterson's influence on the football team should be palpable...keen examples of perseverance and commitment!

'twas a treat to see Crabby Mike while vacationing in the Grand Strand this week. Enjoyed great hospitality/fantastic dinner at his restaurant while talking all things Terriers - sports, JRIS, R Arts Ctr, etc. #memorable

Any news on the injury front? I have heard that we may have some injury concerns on the O line. Hopefully Miles Brown is OK as I saw he was injured in the scrimmage.
