Eighteen excellent recruits, in a nutshell. Unusual twist: none from Florida and only one from Georgia.

Yeah, I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised with another QB!

I'm actually kinda worried about this. And my worry is purely a numbers issue--NOT about what I think of QBs. We'll have Goodson, Newman, and Racke on the roster. Leaving aside any walk ons, that means we have only 3(!) QBs that can play and, ideally, we RS our QBs as a FR. Even though Newman played well, it would have been nice not to have been forced to burn his RS last year and, no matter how much we like Racke, I'm sure the same thing goes for him next year. And my real worries are for 2018 and beyond: Newman will have game experience, Racke may or may not (depending on whether he can RS in '17), and we will have 1-2 true FR that we hopefully pick up in the '18 class. Again, just from a numbers standpoint, that makes me nervous. Is there any good reason to think that we have a good walk on or late add?

Speaking of late add, I can't find any indication that the Wilcox twins have committed or signed a LOI anywhere. Are we still on them? Are they still on us? Anyone know whether they could still end up a SHD or not? Just curious.

Just saw David Marvin heading to UGA on full ride. Gonna make last year's kicker's Dad pretty hot.

Announcement was we are done with the commitments. Walkons to be added later. I expect a QB or 2 in the bunch.

Now appears nineteen, not eighteen.
BTW, by all accounts Priester is a hardworking physical player, and should have a great career with us. Looks like a nice well spoken kid too.

Wilcox twins to Univ of West Fla.
Good for them but we upgraded with Lufkin and Priester IMO.
We will roll out 3 DLs next year over 300 lbs (and a 4th who is just a biscuit shy). We will be 3 deep across the DL and more athletic than we have ever been. Coach Riase is a helluva recruiter and coach.
Really like our OLs too.

Coach Ayers said something I do not recall hearing him say: that everyone in this group has a great chance to start at some point, perhaps even early. Looking over the list and film, I see what he means. This class's credentials are very strong all across the board; very promising, every one. When added to the talent in the other classes, we should really be deep.

Does anyone want to take a stab, even at this early date, at picking out the five or six players with the biggest future impact?

Don't believe I can recall ever hearing of anyone decommit from D-I in order to sign with D-II.

I really hope their parents don't realize their 2 sons squandered away in excess of $400,000 in college educations.
At the end of the day, they did us a HUGE favor. So let's be appreciative of that.
I really like Priester and Lufkin, followed by Moore and Racke. The 5 OLs could likely play as a whole OL unit before they graduate.
Every commit was very productive. The 2 ILBs (Beckett and Titus) made over 330(!) tackles between them this past season. Racke accounted for 2500 yds of offense with 40 TDs. 3 Shrine Bowlers, 4 North South Allstars. Wild and Racke were Tn/Ky Border Battle selections. Almost every commit was Allstate or some type of POY at top competitive levels.
Can't say enough about the job Riase and Nash did. Riase projected Contee as a NG; until he was asked to fill in as a Sr. he had never played DL. That's why there is so little tape of him as DL. He will need to slim down some (and he will) but that's a heck of a job in recognizing and getting talent.
I think we are learning (again) that we can have all the skill position talent you want but games are won up front. This class screams that fact.

Guys I really appreciate your keeping us informed and giving opinions on the recruiting. At the end of the season this year it was the up front guys who put us where we were, and it sounds like we are just getting stronger up front.

Article discussing Campbell's de-commit from FU and change to us. If the article is right about how it all went down, it's very *interesting*.
