The best choice for them to replace him is Jamey Chadwell. I've read that Chadwell has been looking at the FU job, but I suspect he is a little too "country" for the Traveller's rest crowd.

In T.R., we were country when country wasn't cool (Thank you, Barbara Mandrell).....FU is a different story altogether.

And, would Furman be willing to install an option offense?

Have heard finalists at FU are Chadwell (CSU), Hendrix (AFA)and Kitchings (NCSU).
Sounds like they are fishing in the right pool.

After the wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth, which will it be, Ruck?

Chatt is now going through what seems like or is similar to our coaching changes a few years ago - Woody, Johnson, Teachy were the big ones. The downfall of success is that other schools come calling on your coaches. So now lets see what happens with Chatt. They also lost Will Healy I think was his name who went to Austin Peay and I am pretty sure they lost another one or maybe two.

Is Richmond a step up? I remember we outbid Richmond for a game years ago, and have heard that they don't have a great attendance record. Is Richmond thinking of moving up? Is the CAA that much of an improvement for him? Just doesn't seem to add up.

He was the DC there in from 2004 to 2008 when they won the NC.

I've read somewhere the money at Richmond is close to twice what he was making at Chatty. UTC sweetened the pot somewhat in an attempt to keep him, but it apparently wasn't enough

Despite a stadium smaller than ours, and attendance only a little higher than ours, they paid their last head coach around $450K. Chatty was apparently paying $230K, but was willing to pay around $325 to keep him.

Impressive.

Private schools have different philosophies as it pertains to endowment investments and development. For over a decade, Wofford's was reported in the $165 million range without fluctuation. Recently, I have seen it reported around $185. Perhaps Wofford chooses to stay tight lipped about the overall value, or maybe they prefer to keep it around the same size and use most of the proceeds rather than building the fund. Hard to say, but having an endowment as big as Richmond's would certainly be a powerful resource to fund a lot of wants and needs.
