FCS Playoffs

Who you got in the finals? I say E Wash will beat up on YSU, and James Madison goes to the Fargo Dome and comes out a winner. Then JMU over Eastern Washington in a great final.

Yep JMU seems to be the team to beat. EW should win over YSU but not a blowout like JMU's 65-7. JMU hopefully will win at NDSU and then win the NC. Somebody needs to win it besides NDSU. Nothing against the Bison but they have won more than their share. However thinking into the future I will make a bold prediction !!! At least one out of the next three years we will see the Terriers win it all. Wahoo !!!!! Go Terriers !!!!!

I doubt EWU beats YSU by a lot. The Penguins are blue-collar rustbelt players attending a blue-collar rustbelt school in blue-collar rustbelt town. They will arrive at the ridiculous red field ready to play, and if their offense remains steady and they avoid the temptation to adopt EWU's style of play, they may well win.

JMU is the best team in the field, but the FargoDome is a tough place to play. I'm hoping the Dukes can end the streak next weekend.

OK, first half of the bracket is set. Pretty big win by JMU-man did Houston move up the ladder quickly! I haven't seen who is missing for YSU tomorrow, but if it is key defensive players they are in trouble against Eastern Washington. Should be EWU vs JMU in Texas.

EWU leading 24-20 in 3rd qtr

4 plays later EWU extends lead 31-20

YSU now ahead 34-31 with 6:30 left in 4th

No defense on either side. EWU scored in about 4 plays, leads 38-34

Interesting to watch this game and think about whether we could have played EWU tonight and beaten them. We certainly could have limited their possessions somewhat, but could we have stopped their offense enough to outscore them? Youngstown St playing without 4 players who played against us.

Now we get to see just how close we came to playing for a NC.

I thought about you guys as I watched YSU beat EWU. That said, what a catch! Unreal. To send a team to the title game. Unreal

Right now the team (Wofford) is kicking themselves on twitter. They're hungry to start next year now.

I've said it before, but I think we're easily going to have a top 10 ranking next year. If we're lucky, top 5.

The only way I see Wofford able to make a deep run in the playoffs is if we get a seed and home field advantage. Again, I obviously think we're talented and have the capability, but with the option and all of the intangibles of travel, it's best for us to stay in Sparkle City and have opponents not have more than a week to prepare for us.

If we start the year in the top 10, it'll be a lot easier for us to get a seed, and that's why I make a big deal of it.

YT, couldn't agree more. We gained lots of respect this year, and it should carry over with a high pre season rating. With Chatty and Furman changing coaches, and our stability we should have a little easier schedule. IF we can take care of business and get a seed and home cooking we could have a great season. Meanwhile, the FCS championship will continue to run through NDSU, and my veer off through YSU as well. Maybe we can make it come through Spartanburg. With the opening of the JRIS and a football team that should be rated it could be a great year for Wofford Athletics.

Question now is who will be our D.C. With Fuqua leaving.

Ruckus and I exchanged comments about Fuqua leaving today. I really hate to see him go as I feel he was best situated to be Head Coach after MA leaves. He has a tie to the college, knows the system, kids, school and seems to be very well respected by the players.

Now, I don't know where all this will lead.

Realistically, don't you think that the experience away from Wofford will help whoever we pick as the next head coach? As in family businesses, it seems to be a real help to have some experience away from the family to see both the good and bad of what others do. He has done a great job for us this year, and he deserves to reap the rewards. On perhaps a more important front, are we paying our assistants enough to keep them with us?
