Not a huge surprise. Best of luck to him. A former partner of mine is close friends with Fowler and thinks the world of him. To me, that means he's a good guy. Wish him all the best.

You hate to see a good guy lose his job, but this isn't shocking considering the results versus their expectations. It will be interesting to see which direction they go with this.

first, Thanks for the kind words on Fowler. No matter football, you wish all the 'good guys' could be the successful coaches. We know some coaches are definitely NOT good guys - Marshall taking all the FBS refuse in the 90s (Randy Moss was kicked out of Notre Dame AND FSU)... You guys have a quality guy in Ayers!

Again, really impressed with the comments here on Fowler. Great guy, Superb character, lost his mother this year. Just rough. Unfortunately, the wins don't always go along with the high-character guys.

Nice that you guys didn't pile on w 'suck it' Furman' or some such comments. You guys have class - I saw that type thing on another board.

My last opinion - I really think Fowler is a great guy and a super DC. You saw how we shut down Citadel and you guys pretty well - your option team beat us on two reverse half-back throws ! :) Crazy. not exactly a staple of the Wofford offense... But thats really good scouting by Ayers and co - you obviously saw some problem with our Das when the reverse was executed. Nice job by the T-dogs ! Anyway, I came here to congratulate you guys.. Ill get to that in the appropriate post. I just saw this thread. I think Fowler is one of those who can X and O the defense awesome. Just not a head coach motivator type... you see that happen a lot in FBS etc. Some guys are just better as coordinators

I hope Fowler lands somewhere that works for him and his family. I saw the note at the top about one of your guys knowing someone that knows Fowler... he is a really good guy. The kind you wish could succeed

Chatter on an NC State blog indicates that Furman will be hiring Des Kitchings off of the Wolfpack's staff.

IMO - sounds like the money was an issue. He can make more as a top assistant at a large FBS program than an unproven HC at FU.
Look for Hendrix as second choice (and best IMO).

Uh oh.
Looks like it is Hendrix at FU.
Which spells trouble for the SHDs.
Look for us too open with them next year.

Best coach they have had since Bobby Johnson.
Will give them an offensive identity.

A good hire on the surface, but a 50-something first time head coach is still a risk. Hopefully it works out for them - except when they play Wofford.

Great recruiter with base in Ga; hard nosed physical style; best OLs in FU history were played and coached by CH. Downward spiral at FU began when he left for AFA.
Knows us well and has worked with us on option elements.
Things will change for the better over there under CH.
