The big question: Are we actually better off right now with Newman at QB than Goodson? Had Newman not had to come in it could have been a different outcome.

No, the question is, is this team really special because it genuinely cares and pulls for each other, and does not quit, ever. And the answer is, for sure.

This team has been like this from the summer. I told folks how close these young men were. And these young men Just don't lose. THEY JUST WONT LOSE.....tell em every week they won't win. and watch what happens.......This is something you will talk about for many years to come
This ride isn't over by a long shot

I agree with everything you said. But you can't deny that Newman provided a much needed spark.

Listening to Thom Henson as he was reporting on Goodson's injury as he was being carted off the sideline....he overheard him tell Newman "Go WIN this game Joe, go win IT!!" That is the essence of this team. Each of them believe in each other and the know the person behind them can play just as good as they can. They have grit. They have desire. They have HEART!! And nothing can deny heart!! They are DESTINED!!!!!!!! =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

19 I will give you the credit. You HAVE been saying that there is something special about these guys that will carry them a long way, and it has come true. Who knows how far they can go, but their story is very special. I know two guys who enjoyed going down there and beating The Citadel- Brandon Goodson and Will Gay. Will gave up so much to come back and play, and one can only imagine how badly he felt after that RARE fumble in the OT. And Brandon, who is physically hurting, has to still be smiling about our win tonight-redemption!
To all who play or have played sports, you know there is an intangible that is very important. Some teams are great because of one or two great players; and some are great because of coaching or schemes. But if you have the heart and guts and love of each other you can overcome teams that may have better talent. The Citadel was punching and pushing us all over the field in the first half, but we wouldn't yield and it had to frustrate them. When our guys turned that around in the second half you could see the heart go out of them. Their fans got quiet and our fans and sidelines picked it up. Brandon went down and here comes the freshman. Anton goes down and two others filled in for him. They BELIEVE in each other, and regardless of where this team goes, this will be an experience of a lifetime for everyone who is a part of this TEAM.

So proud of these young men. They got their vengeance tonight in a pressure, packed game in a tough environment. Every time they get their backs against the wall, they just seem to fight harder and find a way. Our defense is downright tough as nails. Marvin continues to be a huge weapon. Like the rest of you, I wish we would run something other than up the middle, but, like 19, I am proud to keep on watching them surprise their doubters and critics....oh and much to my bride's chagrin, my playoff beards survives another week!

The story of Jor Newman may have started last night. I think we all saw last night what many of us have intimated all year. Not sure another QB of ours (or any player) takes that play to the House except #8. Different gear. BTW - Colvin is now our back up QB.
Huge win. Guts and heart. Team has matured and grown up. Very proud of our coaches and players.
