Game notes. Terrance Morris starting now. I think this is his first start. Good for him. Only injury mentioned was the one to Patterson. Hope is going to be ok. http://sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.com/a ... tes_16.pdf

Go Terriers !!!

I assume Patterson may be done but if anyone hears anything on that front please let us know.
Very thankful he is ok. Great young man. Very smart and engaging personality.

Sorry to see the Patterson injury. Hate to see these kids get hurt. Hope he gets back to 100% ASAP.

Time to move on and focus on the playoff run. Currently our biggest win is over Tenn. St. #49. Mercer is now ranked #24 in power rankings and would be good for our playoff resume. I truly believe the SoCon will get 4 teams in as long as we finish out 4-0

We definitely need to win out IMO to get a piece of the playoffs........And we very well can. We should be favored in 3 of 4 with the big obvious one at Chatt.

Ditto!

Coincidentally, Mercer also lost an outstanding Linebacker from Parkview HS (also Patterson's Alma Mater) in the Atlanta area with a similar season/possibly-career-ending injury the week prior. Kyle Williams (#51) has been an outstanding Player for Mercer. He was 'listed' as a 2nd Team OLB, but I think he played as much as the Starters. I believe Williams was a year ahead of Patterson, so I'm sure they were Teammates for the Panthers. Kyle has not had surgery to repair his cervical fracture(s) yet. My understanding is that if he has the surgery, it is a certainty that he will never be able to play again, but if it heals on its own, he may be able to fully recover and play next season. So, he is waiting to see if the fracture(s) will begin to knit on their own before having surgery. I'm not sure that is accurate, but that is what I have been told.

Prayers and wishes for rapid & complete recoveries for both of these young warriors!

BTW - As Parkview's primary color is orange (their stadium is known as The Big Orange Jungle), perhaps EVERYONE should wear orange on Saturday as a show of the solidarity of our support for these young men. Just a thought...

We will need to step up our pass defense this week. We were fortunate last week that the Citadel has a week passing game. There were a lot of open receivers last week.

I don't fully agree about the receivers "being open" last week per se.....Wofford did what teams that commit to stopping the run against us do....dare the team to do things they don't do and citadel even moresoe than us doesn't pass......

I won't knock the defense for that performance last week. Best I've seen in college football this season. Completely dominated citadel. No need to apologize for doing it either. Moving in to mercer who is more diverse in attack.....

I met CrabbyTerrier yesterday. He was not crabby.

Hoping for a great game today, and, most importantly, NO INJURIES, for either Team!

We can stop the run, no doubt. Not so much the pass. We can run it, not so much pass it. If we're deep down hostile and ready to get after it, we win, if not, watch out. We mudsters think we get after it big time.......WOF 31- Mercer 17.

Mercer is a good ball club. And. Very well coached. Coach Lamb is very versed in what we do and what our tendencies are. All that to be said, we have the best defense in the country that I have seen. We will make Mercer 1 dimensional as we have every single team we have played this year. Mercer isn't nearly as capable in that 1 dimension to beat us. We also have yet to be stopped on the ground this season, and that continues as well. The key as it has been all season like by is turnovers and penalties, avaoid both and we win this game 34-17 IMO. And that is no disrespect
To mercer, I just think Wofford is worst case even with the best teams in the conference and we have shown it, we just havent gotten over the hump to seal the deal. 2 losses to ranked teams by a combined 5 points and were in control of both.

We limit our mistakes, play sound football, and grind out in the second half to another good win and keep the playoff hopes alive.

14 -7 WOF at the half. Not much inspirational football in my view. Come on SHD's!!!
