Wow- We've been waiting for Stoddard, and it was worth the wait. Letting Long get outside with his power and then hammer with Stoddard inside...winning formula! 7-0

Just keep pounding with fresh runners. Our linemen are pounding them into the turf. Stoddard is going to be a BEAST! The way he stepped through the line to score that second TD reminded me of someone else...

41 total plays for WOF. 37 runs..4 passes. Tough, tough lose for Butler. Playing pretty good on both sides of LOS, very, very untimely penalty and could have had 3 more with the missed FG. Gotta wear them down in second half!

Any idea what Butler's injury is? He slapped the ground and looked mad so I thought it to be serious.

Todd Shanesy's tweets suggest right knee.

TS tweeted that he had ice on the knee, and that it appears will be Brandon's team for a while, but since it appears that tweet has been deleted (or I just can't find it)

Nearing the end of the third quarter and it looks like the heat has gotten to everyone! Our defense is outplaying our offense considerably. We just need to take care of business and get out. The D can still play hard for a shutout.

I initially thought that talk of a betting line was BS, but the 31-0 is pretty close to the numbers that the ETSU board was throwing out.
You've got to believe that the use of the freshman QB means that the injury to Butler is pretty severe. They could have just had Goodson hand it off for the last quarter and a half if Butler were coming back. Now the team that we were complaining about playing three QB's is down to one of those and a freshman. However, we all feel comfortable with both of those QB's and a house full of running backs of all descriptions. The O line is getting better and better. HOWEVER, the defense is doing a fantastic job in every aspect. The defensive backfield did a wonderful job, and the line and linebackers totally shut them down. This may have been the most dominating defensive performance of a legitimate team we have seen. And to think how many underclassmen are just getting their feet under them...

31-0 Final. Very impressive but hollow victory. It just sucks about Butler and the fact that this program can never ever ever seem to avoid key injuries. Big shoutout to the defense though...ETSU never crossed midfield and had less than 100 total yards. Very vanilla look for the offense...but that's good as we didn't really not to show a lot of the playbook today.

Hopefully they just don't yet know the extent of Butler's injury and it will turn out to be less severe than feared. But you're right, Newman's presence in the game is likely not a good sign.

Do not recall the defense playing better. Our db's are bird dogs.

I like that! Our DB's are BD's! Maybe they ought to get a recording of the old Everly Brothers rendition of "Bird Dog" going in practice.
