Harbaugh moves spring practice to FL

UM coach Jim Harbaugh is moving his spring practice on Feb. 29 to AMG Academy (HS) in Bradenton, FL for one week. Both SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and ACC commissioner John Swofford were irate at the announcement. The NCAA is expected to discuss that issue at its next meeting. According to sources, what Harbaugh has done is perfectly legal. He found a loophole in the NCAA rules and is using it to promote his program in the southeast hotbed of recruiting. The article stated, "it was very shrewd to put your program on display in the proximity of the country's top players." These things should NOT be allowed! The guy is a snake, IMO!!!

U must be a Buckeye fan, Mudrat.
Sounds like a man who knows the rules and takes full advantage of them, to me.
Southern conferences and schools may well raise enough sand to end this type of thing but I have yet to see anybody who can cite a rule violation from it. Plenty don't like it but no one can say UM/Harbaugh is doing anything in violation of NCAA rules.
If coaches from any school can actively recruit anywhere and anybody (some living in areas for extended periods of time) then why can't a school set up camps and conduct practices anywhere they like? I can understand why some don't like it (mostly those who are from the recruiting hotbeds who may lose out on this tactic) but I don't see anything that forbids it (at least right now).

Not at all Ruckster..........I'm Orange and Blue in the FBS!
No rules violations (as the article stated) at all, just some iffy business, IMO.
Can't wait till Alabama, LSU, and FL take their programs on the road to some HS in central Ohio and listen to the howling from the Big Ten! Oops, I forgot, none of those schools need leave their tri-state areas.

NCAA outlawed satellite camps today. Can only conduct prospect camps where team practices or plays.
I guess UM and Harbaugh are not coming to Sparkle City.

Yep, and all of the power five conferences voted for the rule. Of course their votes count as two so the vote was 10-5 in favor of banning satellite camps. Not a minute too soon!

NCAA lifts satellite camps ban so the Wofford/UM camp is still on!
NCAA wants to study the recruiting process.
