Samford - Game 10

It is time to stop worrying about next year, and start worrying about this week's game.

Hopefully, our team has healed up some.

The Hatch Attack has struggled in Birmingham, with a few bad losses. Our defense may not stop them but we can definitely slow them down.
It will be up to our offense to avoid turnovers, and we should win.
Give them short fields and we will lose.

Agreed. I hear they are not that good on D but have some large DLS (inside shade technique goes about 340). Same QB (Ariz St. transfer) who seems inconsistent.
We need this one. Badly.

Lets get after it. No slow starts, need to get out front and grind on em. Make em play from behind.

Game notes. http://woffordterriers.com/documents/20 ... tes_15.pdf
Samford leads the league in passing and total offense, although rushing offense is 6th. 7th in total defense. Need a good plan on D, and smart execution all around. Fresh legs.

Wahrby had 19 knockdowns against VMI; Miller had 20 against Chatt.

When did we retire #7? Am I missing something?

Good pickup, Ruckus! Wonder if Todd knows something Terrier nation does not?? Thought we had a 5-year window before a number could be retired?

Perhaps they decided to retire it, but since Long is currently wearing it they decided to wait until he graduates.

They retired Graves' number at his last game. I was there. So any 5 year waiting period is new if it exists.

No offense to Lorenzo Long, but he never should have been issued that number. It's my understanding that he requested it and wanted to embrace the tradition. Dan Tavani wore it before Eric Breitenstein and he was a heck of a player and tough as nails in his own right (played a playoff game on a torn ACL as a senior). That being said, I think at the very least it should have been left unissued for a year or so until a decision was made. Retiring it immediately might be too much, but I will never be convinced that anyone else after EB should have worn that number. Again, I think Long is great and don't think ill of him for asking for the #7, I just think the College should have said "no".

Need to get our pass defense face on for this one......they're gonna sling it! If we control the ball, get some 1st downs and limit their TOP, should be a good one. If not, and they control it with their short pass scheme, could be trouble! Ready for some cool weather action............!

Our defense is struggling to stop them. Lots of arm tackling and guys out of position.

It's been a while for sure. It's strange because if we are not sending people after the block, then you think we'd be able to set up better returns, but we hardly ever try to return much either.
