Re: Goodson starting at QB??

If he's earned it, good; but if for motivation (to whom? For what?), then I have serious concern.
Personally I thought Jacks and Butler had nicest showings at scrimmages; but I wasn't at practices.
Got to trust the coaches' call but first career start in Death Valley in front of 82,000 people? Really?

I'm not sure of the reasoning behind this decision and it may have had a more negative effect rather than a motivating one - but I'm not close enough to understand the team dynamic and how things have been going in practice. All I know is the O didn't move very much with him at the command. I agree with Ruckus that from what I saw in spring practice and heard about pre-season camp and scrimmages, both Evans and Butler have been much better. I imagine it was quite deflating for Weimer to not even get on the field today.

No doubt that Jacks and Butler looked much better, but Goodson was there when Clemson came out fired up and ready. I know we are trying to stay fundamental, but there are lots of things that could get a defense like Clemson out of our backfield; like the throw against the flow to the tight end that really worked well. It is very easy to dislike the play calling of our offense. Our OC has never recovered from having EB there to hand it to.

I wont' question coaching if Jacks starts against Tennessee Tech.

Otherwise, I will be severely concerned

I don't know what happened behind the scenes leading up to this decision and I won't profess to know all the little things that lead to good QB play, but I know what it has traditionally looked like when a Wofford QB is operating at a high level. Since his freshman year I have felt that Jacks looked like our best option at that position. He earned the job by the end of the season two years ago, he held it last year until an injury took him out. I'm not saying out coaches don't know what they are doing and I'm not saying they aren't trying to win, but this move makes no sense to me. We'll see what happens next week.
