Clemson DC Brent Venables "I heard about the (2011) Wofford game as soon as I got here. I asked why we play them when we don't have to."

They do have to the way I understand it. Both Clemson and USC have to rotate through the other schools in the state. Somebody have specifics on this or correct me if I am wrong.

They are not required to play us, but there was a lot of discussion amongst some politicos, a few years ago, that if Clemson and South Carolina were to play FCS teams, then they should make every effort to play South Carolina schools--I think Steve Spurrier chimed in and said he agreed. However, I will be surprised if the Power 5 conferences continue with playing FCS schools. The Big Ten has already stopped (think Michigan and App St). The SEC is getting criticized, and it has become a recurring topic on College sports shows when discussing the eventual four play-off teams and strength of schedule. The handwriting is on the wall, unfortunately for Wofford and all FCS schools that need that money game.
