Montana Griz vs NDSU Bison Gameday Update

Postby Wofford Dude from Montana on Sat Aug 29, 2015 12:50 pm

Greetings Wofford Terrier friends -
very smokey here in Missoula from forest fires north of Glacier National park, and Washington state.
Sold out venue with largest crowd in Washington - Grizzly history.
Vegas odds opened up at 16 points, most sports books have it at 14 and a half now.
Bison dynasty ( along with Ga. Southerm, App St , and perhaps Youngstown St) will get tested today.
I am a homer so I'll take the points.
For those with a Book of Face account, I am under Gerald Eldon Muchmore (Jerry Muchmore),
and have had an addiction intervention from my kids, ( my son Jake says " old people took over Facebook" )
but will post photos all day long.

Like the Mad Max movie " WITNESS ME" I want revenge from the 14-7 playoff loss in Fargo 2012.

May Clemson fear the dogs next week.

Should be a fun game. Dynasty vs former dynasty. Here's hoping the Griz have come back a bit.

Many were saying that when we went to Missoula a few years ago and gave them their only loss.

Griz upset the Bison. 80 plus yard drive to go up with 3 secs left. Missoula will be rockin' tonight!

Saw this story from ESPN. Very interesting that Stitt was obscure until he got the Griz job.

Great article Boulder.

On the last play, it looked like the play was designed for inside the tackle but the RB adjusted and took it outside when the first choice was not there. What do you think? (If the announcers addressed this, I missed it since I was watching it on mute.)

Well as I sip here sipping coffee ( no hair of the dog Baileys Irish cream today) this a.m. I as still a bit stunned.
Watching the 4th quarter again last night, very strange decisions and time management from the coaches was evident.
NDSU throwing the ball on 2nd and 3rd down stopping the clock on final possession , allowing Griz to keep timeouts was huge.
And before that play calling errors, when Stitt kicked field goal instead of game tying touchdown attempt, I just scratched my head.
Montana Griz Nation stayed faithful and cheered until the very end, never giving up belief and were a true 12th man that 2nd half.

Wearing Wofford jersey got a lot of second looks and funny comments. One of my favorites was from a dude who asked, "Did you lose a bet or something?"
Whipped out my copy of the Spartanburg Herald article and explained to him I was WDFM, and how I hhad a vested interest in the game.
Bison fans were loud and proud and very polite, and traveled well filling up the south end zone. Only fans that bring more are Boobcats and E. Wash red turf Eagles.
And they were shocking surprised of final outcome, and not knowing how to act after winning for all those years, were head down and quiet on walk out of stadium.

Thanks for all the feedback from you guys, especially article from boulder3m on Stitt. I had to research him when he was announced because I never heard of him either.
And text from WoCo NH Dude was evidence I shared ( mostly by putting phone in peoples faces) showing that Wofford was rooting for Montana vs Bison.

Ahh - what a game. Good luck against Clemson. I sure hope it gets televised on this side of the Mississippi River.

Couple of thought. WDFM, I felt the same way watching the game-really spooky calls from both coaches that my guess is they would change if they could. Lawdog-That last play was definitely designed inside and was stuffed. The back did a great job of bouncing it outside to score. It was a gutsy call, but, given the way NDSU was playing the pass, it probably was the one to make. It worked, so it WAS the right call. Welcome back, Montana. Too bad your down years came when you played App.

Stitt is an interesting cat. Love his concepts. Looks a little "young'" in the desecision making area.
UM looked faster offensively to me than when we played them in 2007. Both teams were huge up front. Very impressive. Great game by both teams. Glad for The Griz to pull off the upset.
