I couldn't agree more. Hope he is ready because we need him. BTW I have heard he has really worked hard in the weightroom. How big is he?

Can anyone inform me of how the QB situation is looking so far this Spring ? First practice full pad scrimmage?

There have only been 2 practices (Monday and last night). I think they were both in shorts/helmets. Contact starts Friday, I think. No scrimmages for 2 weeks.
I'd be interested in the same thing.

Ed- Thanks for the info. It's always interesting to know what the players are thinking and how it is going from their perspective.

Ok-enuff!

No one was happy with the execution of the offense last year, but it's time to stop piling on the current QB. It wasn't that long ago MA was making some great plays for an EXPERIENCED play-off team, with a number of lethal weapons.

It's still a TEAM GAME-and EVERY component in our complex scheme -has to mesh PERFECTLY.
Some forget we were:
- breaking in new starters on the "O" line, replacing an All-American, and All-SoCon players
- unprecedented injuries in the backfield
- pared down playbook
- QB's health-he took a beating
- porous defense

The most popular player on any team-when they're down-is the back-up QB.
I have no problems with BK-fine guy, excellent athlete. I'm looking forward to watching him play this year-in our TWO QB SYSTEM. But let's stop throwing MA-or any Terrier player-under the bus!

Rip-Not a personal attack on MA .I think he is a good athlete and would like to see him run the ball more. Might be a good role for him. As far as passing goes,I just dont feel it ! If WL wants more of a Oregon style offense in the future, a QB who gives the Terriers a legit shot of a downfield passing threat is essential. The T-Dogs have some legit WRs, with speed. We have to be able to get them the ball.
Ask yourself this.If you made a highlight film of the QB play/passing game last year what would it look like ? How many "youtube" moments would be on there ?

We have discussed this subject at length all year. Were you happy with last years w/l total ? Even with all the other issues in 09, a passing game would have at least doubled the win total.

Northend, I haven't been to a practice yet, but based on the roster on the website, Burr isn't on campus. I wish that some of our new signees had been early graduates and could have participated in spring drills, but it doesn't sound like that's the case.

I'm with you, Northend. I don't think anyone could say that MA consistently passed (or pitched) the ball with accuracy last season. I have no stake in who plays QB for us, but we have to upgrade that position and that part of our game in '10. If we can't make other teams pay for stacking the box on us, then we have no chance to be successful. I hope that MA, BK, and CW all make great strides during spring.

Just a hunch, but I think the 2 QB system will work well for us this year, for reasons we have all discussed before...fresher legs, different talents, keeping defense off balance, etc. Healthier RB's and more/larger OL's will help too. More experience all around will make a big difference.

I attended only 2 games last year ... one home and one away and I only witnessed the second half of the second game attended. You know I am a strong B Kass supporter but to be honest and in all fairness I just didn't see M Allen having the opportunity to achieve a real comfort zone with the play calling - he looked uncomfortable at times in running plays and the pass pocket but he only threw like 7 or 8 passes all game and they were in obvious passing situations so there was no element of surprise, it didn't help him as a QB and he was looking over his shoulder because the game I went to two other QB's I think played. I was impressed with M Allen as a runner and to me his first step was that of a TB. Two QB system is hard for the offense.

I agree mainly with the bold, one of the reasons why he wasn't as effective this year is that his niche essentially changed from the QB we put in to run the ball on keepers to the QB that did everything...and we lost some good OL in that transition
