I'm sure the guy is a tremendous football player, but does anyone else think 600 people attending a program to find out where he's going to college is a bit ridiculous?

Yes, all the theatrics with these things are way over the top. Pulling out an Auburn hat with USC under it...give me a break.

I certainly wish the kid well and am glad he is involved in church, but it seems like these things are more of a disservice to a kid than a benefit, especially until he does something on the field.

The old hat trick. Give me a break. Either come up with something more original, or have a little class. Preferably the latter.

But, he played for Byrnes.

Don't you people know, that according to the Herald-Journal, Byrnes is the awsomest bestest most wonderfulest football program in the entire universe and could probably beat the Colts and the Saints. :D

What is interesting is that this guy publicly announced this spectacle two weeks ago and then begged the community not to contact him in any way before this great meeting.

Unfortunately, this is where "big time" college football is headed. I'm glad we don't play in the SEC.

How would you feel if you were a Byrnes player signing a Division 1 (or any level) scholarship and having to pick up the Spartanburg Herald and read Lattimore articles day after day. Has to get old for the other players. They had players sign that I have never heard of. The media causes a lot of this type of hype.

I would hope that in the 4 years of my college ball, that USC (oh wait a minute...a judge ruled that USC belongs to the one in California, not South Carolina) was on my team's schedule, and that I played defense.
