After last season, an apparent easy win (if there is such a thing) should be a welcome respite.
OG, the statute of limitations on the FU debacle hasn't run yet.......just had a horrible flashback when I read your post. Post traumatic stress disorder; battle fatigue.

We are underestimated and disrespected, but so far as the strength of schedule goes, we bring a lot of that on ourselves. We don't play the level of OOC schedule most other SoCon/CAA schools play. We rarely travel to play outside the Carolinas and routinely play the same rotation of Big South teams. We do play SC State from time to time, but aside from them we don't play any other MEAC teams despite their proximity. Some of this might fall on the prospective opponents, but our lack of willingness to step out of our area hurts us more than we admit. It robs our team of experience in different venues, it limits our exposure, it makes us seem like we are ducking quality opponents and the list goes on. I realize it takes money to pack up a football program and take it on the road, but until we follow the lead of Furman, Elon, Georgia Southern and others, then our perception will not change. Maybe as our funding grows, we'll be able to play some teams from the other major FCS conferences. I really hope so. All allegiances aside, the SoCon isn't what it used to be and some great (gasp, even better) football is played elsewhere. There is no coincidence that we've struggled against bigger, more physical CAA teams come playoff time. I love our underdog role as much as anyone, but part of that is not being afraid to face off with anyone, anywhere. I might not know all the details, trials and tribulations, etc. of putting together a football schedule, but based off my perception of what Wofford has scheduled in recent years, I think things could be done better.

Easiest way to expand the footprint. They have a 2010 schedule set but wouldn't mind seeing them show up in the future.
Georgia State (2010 schedule set), Campbell, North Carolina Central aren't as interesting but are Division I at least.

He had to schedule a home game and it couldn't be a home and home. Given that, you can throw out all decent I-AAs. He took what he could get.
Do you also know that the reason we don't play William and Mary, Richmond, Jacksonville State, or other quality OOC foes? Our coaching staff doesn't want to play them. If given the choice between Richmond or Charleston Southern, MA will schedule Chraleston Southern 99.9% of the time. Why? Because he believes the Southern Conference is the best football league in the country and our schedule will be hard enough with those 8 games plus the 1 I-A game we have play for the money.
Stop dreaming that we will play a home and home with an Ivy or other far off I-AA team. We don't have the money to do it. From what I hear from a few people that work in the development office at the college, Wofford still needs well in excess of $1 million to complete the fund-raising for the JET, the new weight room and athletic offices facility......and that facility has been in use for over 9 months now.
Our donations to the Terrier Club are great, but they only pay for scholarships.
