Has Herlocker departed from the Wofford program? Does this have anything to do with the injuries from last season?

Heard from a close source that he had tendered his resignation. No specifics provided.

To me, I feel as if the strength and conditioning program is the weakest part of the Wofford Football Program. We've gone from no strength and conditioning coach to Coach Robertson to Coach Herlocker in a matter of 5-6 years. I think that could be part of what contributes to the injuries. We are consistent with our offensive strategy and defensive strategy, but we need some consistency with our S&C program. We generally recruit and play with undersized players, so the S&C program is crucial to increasing our overall team speed and size to be able to participate at the highest level. This is just my opinion but it is an area that I feel we are lacking in.

I agree. Clearly something was amiss this year. First the injuries; then whispers of in-season training being changed; then late season collapse. Kids looked slow and tired. Then word gets out that the coaches are taking over the conditioning and Herlocker is gone.
With the facilities we now have in the JET Center, there simply is no excuse for poor s and c program. Kids don't look as big/muscular as they used to. They need some lead in their pencil. I know plyometrics is the cutting edge techniques to enhance quick twitch muscles and improve explosiveness, but I am not sure what we have been doing is helping us.

Does anyone know if we have filled this slot or what the plan is going forward?

With spring practice on the horizon, I hope someone is giving this some serious attention. We need to be strong, fast and healthy next year.
