I'm still hoping we sign Travis Thomas. If anybody hears anything, please post it.

The good news is that it looks very promising on that front, Terriers. Nothing is a given though. He certainly is a very promising player.
I am intrigued by the mystery kid from out West. How did we/he find him/us? How did others pass on him? Lots of questions.

T-fan wrote:I sure hope that not having a strength and condtioning coach is just a temporary thing. I am not sure what the problem was with the last one. I do remember people saying how good he was in the past. Something must have changed. We have a great facility now. Not making a committment to having a top notch strength and conditioning coach would be a mistake that would hurt us in the long run. The coaches have alot on their plates already. I can guarantee that not having a top notch strength program will be used against us in recruiting. Wofford does most things right. But they have been either unwilling or unable to make a financial committment to hiring a top notch person in this area. It is time to make that committment.

T-fan:I agree that we need a full time strength and conditioning program.

I asked my husband his thoughts on who would be good canidates. He said that Tom Melton and Brad Potts used to be on staff at Wofford. They are two of the best. He said that if they are not interested in coming back, they would give Mike some very good names. My husband also suggested Brandon Howard. He works under Tom Melton at Georgia Southern and is from this area.

He also suggested Tommy Howley from Cornell and Curtis Turner who is an assistant at Vandy. My husband said Turner is young and very well thought of. Turner is being consider at another school in SC as their head strength and conditioning coach.

We have a great facility and we need a top notch coach.

Didn't they put the recruiting highlights video on the Wofford Youtube page last year? Hope that happens this year!

MsDenise,
I missed your earlier post about T Martin from FC. Are you guys from Franklin County. My son played basketball for Terrance Sr. at South Middle and he's a great guy. Sorry we missed Terrance, but I hope he went to The Citadel for the right reasons. He's a good kid and think he will be fine there, but that first year as a "knob" is pretty harsh on some. I wish him well, just hope he changed his mind for his career choices, not because of some "sea story" they invented down there.
Take care.

For anybody interested: Blake Bennett (a WoCo commit from last year than didn't enroll) signed with WCU as a transfer from UAB. Just happened to come across his name when I was looking at the lists of signees across the SoCon.

Does anyone have any news on when we'll hear how this weekend's visits go? With the excitement of NSD, I'm sure we're all anxious to see how the class will end up all things considered.

Concerning T. Martin and "career choices", IMO Wofford offers as much or more than the Citadel to those considering a military career. Wofford's strong and varied academic offerings , including its longstanding ROTC program, provide an excellent background for the military, perhaps creating a better-rounded person in the process. We have many alumni who have had outstanding military careers. Our past president Joe Lesesne could have had a very meaningful conversation with Martin about this.

The type of education Wofford offers enabled me to successfully complete 26 years in the Army, retiring in 2006 as a Colonel.
