I just hope for no injuries. Hopefully we can pick up a few first downs and keep the clock running. Boston College tried doing that with very little success.

Hoping for no injuries, Joe doesn't turn the ball over, and stays on pace for a 1000 yard rushing/passing season.

Stretch goal: look better or at least indistinguishable from Clemson's other opponents.

Game notes. https://woffordterriers.com/documents/2 ... s_CLEM.pdf

We have a lot of talent and hopefully can hold our own and earn some nationwide respect. Many think Clemson is the best team in the US; certainly they are among the 3-4 best. We will need to play with focus, great effort, and smarts to give ourselves a chance. At worst hopefully we come away with an appreciation that we can line up with the best and of what it will take to finish out our season in a way that will win another SoCon championship and get us into the playoffs. Browning said it best: our reach should exceed our grasp, or what is a Heaven for.

Well said, LD!!
Some neighbors have said we likely set a record with betting lines giving the Terriers +47 points; a Vegas book predicts 58-3.
Like others said, let's be injury-free and competitive!
What a great stage for Wofford! it's the national broadcast on ACC network. Imagine: Men's basketball in March Madness and this Saturday's tilt, we've come a long way.

Todd and Thom have been doing a podcast once a week. It is really good. I hope they will continue in basketball season. I've told Henson they should do one on non-Wofford sports too.

Wofford will win 6-0 - er, oh, wait a minute, that is the relative number of Rhodes Scholars.

Enjoying watching UConn and Navy. Navy's execution, schemes, and discipline, on both offense and defense, are impressive.

I have never bet money on football, but if I did, I'd take the Terriers and the points. Clemson will likely score a lot, but I don't think Wofford will be shut out. I'll be shocked if the T-Dogs don't cover.

I don't predict scores because once the opening ko occurs chaos can begin with unpredictability. The key to this game is execution and turn-overs. We have to be perfect on execution, and then create some turnovers. If we can do that we can make an impression that can silence the crowd from time to time. I have been to Death Valley when we have done just that. We played those guys the year they won their first National Championship under Danny Ford, and Wade Lang was a wingback, and Mike Ayers was the defensive coordinator. The first half was close . If memory serves me correctly it was 17-10 Clemson. They pulled away in the 2nd half.
If they get momentum out of the gate, then it will be a long afternoon. If we can execute and create some momentum from the get go--Then maybe we can keep it close. They have weapons at every position, so their execution will have to be a Coach Swinney nightmare.

This is not my prediction, because I don't make score predictions; however, I do make wishes: Wofford, 42, Clemson 38 =D>

We will learn, benefit, and improve from this. https://woffordterriers.com/news/2019/1 ... emson.aspx

Clemson is certainly a juggernaut. Exceptional size, strength, experience, skill, speed, depth, versatility, and athleticism at every position. Experienced staff. We did not back down or quit but were manifestly overmatched, as any FCS and 90% of FBS teams would have been. Bright spot: Van Cleave is as fast as anyone on the field.

We have a week to heal up and prepare for Mercer. Must win.

One concern about the telecast: it was all about Clemson and very little about Wofford. For example, it was veteran's day and they discussed their long standing service connection; Wofford, although obviously a much smaller school, has a long standing connection with the military through our ROTC program and percentage of students who have served, and died. And while Clemson has a stellar reputation for players in the NFL (39 currently, I believe they said), how about the fact that the founder and moving force behind the only NFL team in our area, and a former receiver for the champion Colts with Unitas, and a chief Carolinas economic driver and public benefactor, is of course Mr. Richardson, a proud Wofford alum. Hate it when announcer

Clemson certainly does not need me to carry their water, but this thing about Clemson not being in the top five for playoff purposes is pure bull-oney.

Herbstreit's/ABC's/Big Ten's clout to get OSU to #1, and PSU in, is absurd (just like when OSU got into the playoff a couple years back despite having lost handily at home to a mediocre VPI team). I think this will work itself out correctly, but still .... this totally reeks.

I think that Clemson team is the best we've ever played.

I like Wofford to be competitive with 99% of the G5 and a handful of P5 teams. We'd lose handily to most of the P5, as one does at this level, but you have to be a top 4 team to handle us like that. They were easily better than that Baylor team IMO
